[B]From The Negative feedback upon this, I should just release it for free This program is nothing like Gmash or whatever. This program is made to download and install mass amounts of addons to your gmod server "Hassle Free" Tutorial Below. 1. Click on Open Folder, this will prompt you to open a folder where the addons .gma's will be downloaded and extracted. 2. To settup resource.AddWorkshop so when the player joins your server, they download the required addons. Click this checkbox, and then "Open" to locate your .lua file, it will automatically write them there for you. 3. Click "Open Addons Folder" and locate your servers addons folder so they extract the folders there. 4. Copy the links of your addons then paste them into the textbox, then click the button below it. 5. Click "Extract GMA's" then wait for operation complete. 6. Click extract to folder, then you're done! no
This is facepunch, not a cheating site.
This is facepunch, not a cheating site.
what? i dont see any cheats in this video? You can do this legitimately, it just takes longer. By the way OP this is the wrong section, you should probably post this in Gamemodes/Addons releases (Despite not being a gamemode or addon, it's probably more appropriate then here) Developers Discussion is more for getting help with things
First off, I am all for creating something just for fun. But this statement...
If you think this is worth money, comment below.
And this...
that I may sell
turns me off massively. You're creating something that (no offense) can be done by dragging and dropping a .gma file onto gmad.exe, which will unpack it and give you all the files that were uploaded.
This is facepunch, not a cheating site.
How on earth is this cheating? This is legitimately doing what you can do already.
How on earth is this cheating? This is legitimately doing what you can do already.
He's posting like it's a cheat, is what I meant :v:
He's posting like it's a cheat, is what I meant :v:
I would have worded that a bit differently then.
I would definitely use this if it was free.
I would definitely use this if it was free.
Use something else like GWTool, which was already free from the get go.
Use something else like GWTool, which was already free from the get go.
Except I still have to subscribe to the addon, open gmod, close gmod, open my addons folder, then drag and drop. Supposedly this dude's program does everything for you and all you need to do is give it the url... BTW I'm already using GMad Extractor by MulleDK19

Hassle free, what a joke. You just add the addon to a collection and have your server download that automatically
There's a userscript that allows you to bypass subscribing and download a raw addon file, but I don't know if I'll get banned for linking it.
I did some quick digging and found a website that downloads it if you paste the link... dang.. wish I would've found that months ago. Thanks for letting me know it's already possible. EDIT: Holy shiz I've hit the 50 post holy grail I can finally rank posts again. (completely off topic but whatever)
Hassle free, what a joke. Definitely not something I'd pay for though.
Pasting a link and having it download and extract automatically is still faster. Definitely not something I'd pay for though.
Faster? You're telling me clicking a button on the workshop page and having it automatically download (and update) the next time your server loads is slower than copying the link, pasting it into some program, clicking a bunch of buttons and then moving those files to your server and repeating that process everytime an addon updates (which you also have to manually check)

If you really want to download things from the workshop, you can use this. http://steamworkshopdownloader.com/ I used to use this for turning SP Arma 3 mission in MP Missions (I mean, i was not able to find them in the MPMissions folder :v ) It's actually useful if you want to use a FastDL instead of the workshop's servers (Workshop servers are slow + rip if downtimes) Still, his project looks cool, and i don't think anything else like this(with a gui) exists. Give him a break.
There is GMADextractor though

Just please, for the love of god, do not try to sell it.
The only thing your program potentials has on Falco's is that it can mass download addons (doesn't work with workshop collections though, which is the only reason I'd need to mass download) It also doesn't work for me. It downloads the gma but doesn't extract even though it says "Operation Complete". When I click "Extract GMA's" it simply deletes it. Clicking "Extract To Folder" also doesn't do anything. If you enter a url incorrectly, you either get a ghetto error message that isn't helpful, or the program crashes. (Like a collection url) It also doesn't seem to "remember" where your extract to folder is when you restart it. With that said, if you can make it flawlessly download a list of addons or a workshop collection and extract them to a specified folder, separated in to their own folders with the click of a button, then this will be my extractor of choice.

Let me update it to fix your issues. Add me on skype, tyler.lovenjak I just finished adding support for the workshop collections [editline]9th November 2015[/editline] UPDATE! I fixed the folder error!
Collections work now, that's good. Extracting still not working. After I have a list of links to download, I click "Save To Folder". It successfully downloads all the GMA's. Then I click "Extract To Folder" It says complete, doesn't actually do anything. Yes I have already set the Addons Folder. Then I try to click "Extract GMA's" Does some stuff in cmd, all the GMA's disappear, no extracted files in sight. I have W10 x64....
I honestly do not think this works for windows 10, i'll check it out.
The code for this looks like "baby's first program" You haven't renamed your program from 'WindowsApplication8' You are using example code, hence the 'MyWebServices' and 'MyProject' and 'My' + anything This program also uses gmad and 7z, so it's not standalone. It's just a wrapper. I'm fine with the programmer being a little new to the scene, but please don't sell this. Release the source on github. Also, on this site, usually you don't want to put a virustotal link. It makes it seem like you are hiding something, plus I believe (?) there is a rule about posting binaries without source code. So you might want to release that.
You are using example code, hence the 'MyWebServices' and 'MyProject' and 'My' + anything
No that's just a side effect of using Visual Basic
No that's just a side effect of using Visual Basic
It's not a side effect, it's when you adapt a bad naming scheme (from an example)
It's not a side effect, it's when you adapt a bad naming scheme (from an example)
Visual Studio sets the default name of any new Windows Forms application (afaik) to "WindowsApplication#", too. I doubt he used an example to make a project (as in file) in that case.

Also he used WindowsApplication8 because he didn't rename it, I know. Most intermediate programmers will rename their project to suit what it actually is.
