So our servers have been getting dossed attacked for 4 days straight now. Its getting really annoying and i was wondering if anyone has a fix so people can not doss our server anymore. Let me know if there is anything i can do server side I obviously have FTP access to the orangebox directories. Also if the fixes require something more than FTP access to the orangebox games let me know and i will pass it on to the server owners. PLEASE any information on the would be very much appreciated!
You need to contact your host (or networks administrator) and make them aware of this issue. They are most likely going to NULL route your IP until the attacks stop.
You need to contact your host (or networks administrator) and make them aware of this issue. They are most likely going to NULL route your IP until the attacks stop.
This is very dependant, most hosters won't care.
I can tell you if I was hosting a server that was recieving DDoS/DoS attacks for 4 days straight I would care. It could be affecting others on the same box as him, I'm surprised he hasn't been NULL routed, and if he has he still needs to contact his host to work out what should happen.
turns out they are not dossing because they have the firewall set up to auto ban anyone who floods the server. They somehow injected something into the server and are using the server to flood itself. Not really sure what i am going to do yet =X
Give the DDoSers free admin, Problem solved. Its what all 12 year old skiddies want. Im being serious.
Contact hosters, Get IP From logs, Contact relevant authorities
Threatning the attacker to report them to the authories hasnt worked yet.
Run a packet sniffer and wait till an attack starts, deduce what IP the attacks are coming from then report it to what ever relevant cyber authorities you have in your country, your ISP, their ISP. Even if they use a a full proxy network they will be tracked because no professional hacker will be doing this and even professionals leave traces. Since the recent cyber wars that have taken place the authorities are taking even minor offences as serious so before you know it this child running his VPN DoSing you will be picked up for cyber crimes. *Edit -Realized he replied saying he wasn't being DoSed/DDoSed so in that case you need to run a server side logger to catch all commands being sent so you can see what you must do to fix the exploit.
