Hello Facepunch, do you guys know what would cause DarkRP's chat to have a latency? there's no physics lag, or out-of-sync gameplay, but just chat messages take a few seconds to pop up.

Depends. Are you using any custom chatboxs? What is the players ping that is sending it and what is the ping of the person receiving it.
List all your addons and other information if you can.

I'll let you know everything you need to know.
I run a dedicated box via NFOservers, I pay $250 a month. So that's not the issue.
My server runs the latest DarkRP, averaging at 37 users connected at all times (20 by night, 72 by day).
None of my existing addons are optimized in any way, they are stock, the list includes:
ULX, ULIB, DarkRP Modification - Essentials
Steamgroup rewards, Richard's tab/hud/f4 menu, Scorpy's chatbox - GUI
Prometheus, plogs, methlab, customHQ-RAD15, rPrint, Itemstore, Wyozi Cinema, Enforcer, and Radio-mic mod - as far as scriptfodder, intensive addons.
Besides that i've made my own stacker edit to prevent crashes, I have a folder consisting of an automatic decal cleaner every 3 minutes, Awarn for obvious reasons, and a setpos crash fixer for precision.
A total of 25 addon folders, aswell as M9K.

Unfortunately I never really got around to learning LUA, so I can't write amazing custom things at your level :(.
Everyone can get good with a little practice no worries.
I would worry about some Scriptfodder addons though. A lot of them are uh, poorly optimized to say the least.
