How to port weapons from other games into garrys mod?
7 replies, posted
I've seen weapons packs that add Call of Duty weapons and use their exact animations and sounds from the game. The question I'm asking is: How can I go about doing this myself? I do own a couple of Call of Duty games, and I would like to port the weapons into Garry's Mod and make a weapons pack. Can someone tell me what I need and what I have to do?
Thanks!
Basically it's:
- Finding and exporting the weapon model from the game into a program like max 3ds or blender (make sure you import animations aswell)
- Exporting it as a .mdl file (export animations aswell)
- Add a script for the weapon: damage, recoil, animations, etc.

You need to get a better idea.
In all seriousness though, to add on to the above poster, you'll probably be too inexperienced with LUA to make your own swep off the bat, so maybe using a base like m9k, gdcw, mad cow, or CSTM would serve you well.

Ok I used winRar to open the IWD files and I found a lot of weapons in one iwd file, they are under the .iwi file type. What do I do from here?
