Hi guys , today I post a message because I don't know how to do... I searched a lot of time before posting but I don't find anything who can resolve my problem. Specs of the server : Intel i7-4790K 4,0 / 4,4 GHz 32 Go RAM 1333MHZ 2x240Go SSD SOFT I have a 33 tickrate DARKRP server who is french. http://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2016/06/1455211247-facepunch.png As you can see on the net_graph (with 27players) And with 31player and spawning cars : http://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2016/06/1455211303-facepunch1.png The VAR is too HIGH , everytime a player join it increase the var. With 48 players the default VAR is 40. When I spawn a car i have a VAR increase but it return to the normal after 3 seconds. So , I'm asking for help because I don't know what exactly is the var and how to fix it. It's not my hardware I think because an I7 is really strong. I can give you my server.cfg. I have addons like TDM CARS / LW / SPED , some models , the M9K and CSGO weapon made by Samuri Ninja Kung Fu Master and some scriptfodder addons Thank you for the help !
So , I'm asking for help because I don't know what exactly is the var and how to fix it.
Don't try to fix things that you don't even know are broken. "Var" is the rate that the server framerate is changing. It's completely normal for it to fluctuate a little. [editline]11th February 2016[/editline] Pay attention to the number labelled "SV" as well as the red and dark yellow bits of the graph. SV is your server framerate, the red part is network usage caused by entities and the dark yellow bit is network usage caused by usermessages. SV should be as close to your tickrate as you can get it but it'll dip briefly when your server loads new assets (models, materials, sounds, etc) or lots of physics stuff is happening.

You haven't a clue what the var number means.
It's the deviation of the server framerate , I know what it is... I'm just saying when the VAR is too high , the tickrate is going yellow / red
Your server's framerate is low, that's why it's going yellow. Cut down on physics objects (cars), look at addons that may be trying to perform excessive calculations, etc. Simply put, having a lot of players is resource intensive and GMod isn't particularly well optimized for newer processors.

Because i've never seen a high var at 40 players on other servers
BUMP - Is with 40 players .. ----- 44 players
Hey, look, VAR is lower in those two pictures than the above one. I think that's pretty good proof that VAR has nothing to do with your server having bad performance.
How can u explain me when my server have 40 players and 45 VAR , the tickrate go down to 2 fps and the lerp is yellow , so it's the server who start lagging
Except, in your second picture, VAR is 0 when SV is 2. So clearly VAR isn't actually any indicator of your server's performance.
Decrease tickrate, remove uneeded addons, etc. You cant really do more than that because of gmods poor optimisation
Decrease tickrate, remove uneeded addons, etc. You cant really do more than that because of gmods poor optimisation
Okay , a tickrate of 22 can decrease lag ? I've actually 33 And ATLAS CHAT can cause lags ? (Chat box who show connect and disconnect with STEAMIDs)
Okay , a tickrate of 22 can decrease lag ? I've actually 33 And ATLAS CHAT can cause lags ? (Chat box who show connect and disconnect with STEAMIDs)
Not sure if you can do a tick rate of 22. 16 is one you can do, but I really don't recommend having it that low in the first place. And I doubt ATLAS chat is affecting your performance heavily.
