A long time ago I had this awesome addon, that allowed you to spawn crates with sweps and ammos in them, that you could choose via an ingame menu.
The crates were usable and would vanish when looted.
Sadly some update broke it a long time ago, so I wanted to ask if someone could make something like this.
Awesome would be:
-selectable SWEP and amount of ammunition in the cache
-selectable model for the container
Hope someone knows a similar addon, or is willing to make this.

ok, perhaps I didn't made clear, what I was actually asking for.
I want a stool, that is able to spawn usable entities, that give previously selected sweps.
It would be perfect, if the crates would vanish after being used and had selectable models.

this is so awesome. Includes way more cool features than I had hoped for.
If you ever get to release like a second version of it, I got some things you could add, that would turn it into a MEGA-Stool:
- freely selectable model like in some wire-tools (with a little text box for the path). I guess this would mean, that you cant have visible beacons, but that wouldn't bother me too much.
- up to 3 different weapons in the cache
- user can choose weather or not the box vanishes

dude, this is so mad. I have been searching for something like this forEVER.
I cant think of a single major improvement for this tool.

The caches can't be adv.dubed
Otherwise everything seems bug free.

I stated in both download descriptions that there is no duplicator support. I've never worked with advanced duplicator and I don't know how to make it interact, but I'll look into it.
I hope it isn't asked to much for, but could you also code, that the user can label the ammunition in the caches?
I found another thing, that could be fixed.
It appears, that sometimes you are near enough to the cache to interact with it, but selecting "take" does nothing.
It works when you stand directly by or on the cache, so I suppose it has to do something with the distance to the player.
Also, is garry ever going to make scrollable menus? I am tired of having have of the options cut off in the tool menus.

Ammo labels are possible, and you have to be looking directly at the cache to be able to take items from it. I can remove that check, but it is there to prevent people from using the console command to interact with it through walls or other solid objects.

It won't be until later tonight that I get a chance to look at the code ( 9+ hours ), but it should be updated tonight.
Is it possible to make entities like this? can you just make an entity with guns and an entity of ammo, and put comments in the code as a "tutorial" on how to change it? I have no use for the stool but very much use for the entity :)

The entity is flexible at the moment. Inside init.lua, look at ENT:Create and where ENT:Create is called inside the tool.
The tool simply allows sandbox servers to create them without having to write scripts to do it - you could easily, say, have a gamemode randomly spawn these around the map with random contents.

I'm planning on getting that and duplicator support this weekend.
It'd be sick if you could make it just spawn the weapon entity when you press "take." Maybe a checkbox for it or something. I have a thing on my server that makes it so you can't pick it up regularly, gotta press E on the weapon.
I got an idea, regarding the problem we talked about earlier.
Why don't you just allow the use, only when the player is looking at the entity directly?
This would fix the problem of the unusable inventory showing up and would certainly simplify the handling of small models such as pistols as "cache".

Alright, now that I can launch gmod today, I can get this update out.
Currently:
Added ammo labels
Added option to spawn the gun instead of giving it to the player
Replaced the trace with a hull trace. This is slightly more forgiving in terms of accuracy, but is less forgiving of trying to use it when you have things in the way.
Fixed a check that would allow any entity to be given in slot 2.
Normal duplicator support.

When you use an empty cache, a small textbox pops up in the upper right corner.
If this is intended, I would suggest a small message in the chatbox instead, which looks nicer imo.
also, if no name for the ammo supply is entered, the ammo doesn't get added to the cache.
I guess a "default name" for the ammos must be added.
