Hello All,
I have recently been working on adding toybox back into gmod. And i want to know if everyone thinks i should add this back for free or paid (vote on the poll)? And what should i add because i cant remember much of the toybox but i'm trying to put in everything i can remember.

I feel like if the toybox was free, it would have too many uploads.
Make it paid!
(I suggest ~50$ for access to toybox and a $50 dlc for uploading)
But what do I know, I'm not raychamp

Why stop there? Make them pay for the Q menu, each tool costs $30,000,000

I do have to agree $50 is a bit much + if i did charge i would only charge for the ingame side of things and uploading would be free if u had bought it.
Since the original toybox was free I think that this service should be free.
Also, I'm pretty sure making it paid might trigger a DMCA takedown from Facepunch since the assets aren't technically yours.

good point hadn't thought of DMCA
Why would you even suggest making this a paid thing.

Line count != Quality
Why would you even suggest making this a paid thing.
Because paying for things that should be free is all the rage in video games nowadays.
lol, acting like garry even cares anymore.
but yeah, limit uploads and shit to some extent, email-verification, manual verification and etc.
unless you have a shit ton of storage you should have some limits but keep it free.
Will put limits on uploads and I have a fair amount of storage and can get plenty more
Line count != Quality
I know I just put it there because one of my friends asked and people might want to know

No I just don't have a job and would like some money and if it was paid then I probably wouldn't put limits on uploads
You should probably fix the spelling errors in the addon too.

What errors please point them out. My spelling is not to good
I wasn't really around gmod much for the original toybox, but from what I see its similar to http://garrysmods.org, and the steam workshop. What sets the toybox apart from either one?

I believe with Toybox, you could actually load addons from the in game menu and the models/sweps/weapons/etc would be loaded into the game with no restart/rejoin. Hope that answers your question. This can be done again now that Willox and the team implemented the feature of loading addons from in game.

Thats what I thought it was, but that would require a module for it, right? Or would it be implemented into an update by Willox or rubat?

mounting addons from the workshop is already implemented. it is the unmounting addons that is going to be the problem. seeing as there is no way to do it yet.

Check the video i posted in the OP
Here it is again: http://share.rtm516.co.uk/Toybox%20Preview.mp4
Wait, so some people have this? If they do, nice... I'm looking forward to this!
This sounds very beneficial. Would STools be able to be loaded on the fly as well as textures/models/custom sounds on the server?
With a preview vid like that, I have very low hopes for this. Or well that would imply that I had higher hopes from the start, which I didn't.
It autoloads everything but lua the only lua it loads is ent and wep that are single file
[editline]18th May 2016[/editline]
Almost finished but have exams at the moment but will pick up dev in about 2 months
[editline]18th May 2016[/editline]
Will also post a HD preview vid with all features, hopefully soon
New video released with all features showing apart from entities https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UuW6HVLQL1I also credits for used sounds, models etc in description
Are you still at this? The Workshop is the new toybox. Stop wasting your time.
Hmm I'd make it free with an upload limit. If the users want to pay for unlimited uploads they can do so monthly at a price about 10% of the original $50 charge. You could then throw in deals:
-1 Month $5
-3 Months $10
-6 Months $15
-1 Year $25
-Lifetime $50
Good stuff

I wouldn't mind another toybox if it was well made and well hosted but there's no way in hell I'm going to pay for it when the workshop exists.

Are you kidding? Toybox is amazing. It allows you to hotload addons and custom models without having to exit the game. Why wouldn't anyone want that?

Would you be willing to share how you got custom models and textures to load? I'm trying to do the same thing, minus toybox, but also with loading STools as well.

Probably with this?
mr krabs
$50? Really? Almost as much as a new AAA game?
All so you can load addons without reloading the map. Cool.

That function could prove useful in the future. However, it says that the function is deprecated, furthermore, it can only mount addons from the workshop, if it had an option for providing your own link, then I might be interested. I am actually trying to load custom things through an in-game lua pad, which I can already do to a certain extent (weapons/entities) but am trying to do it with STools as well, along with custom models/textures/effects. Obviously models/textures/animated effects for the model would have to be loaded via some providing server or whatever, but it would be immensely helpful if I could do this on my own without having to rely on workshop/some other third party proprietary host. I'm not sure if I got my meaning across very well. Something like scripted_ents.Register and weapons.Register, but for STools. And being able to download models/textures/effects/sounds from a server e.g. dropbox, to the server and clients.
EDIT: Also, I just found out that steamworks does not work serversided. What I am trying to do is also serversided.
it can only mount addons from the workshop.
Wrong, it will mount any file relative to the gmod dir, and will load from what i've tried any file format.
