I have known this kid for a while, he goes by the name of Nathaniel. He's a nice guy, plays gmod a lot, we were admins together on a very good DarkRP server before it went down one day, as most servers do. He decided to make his own server now, and asked me to "code" the jobs and put addons on the hosting website's file manager. I added all the stuff he wanted, and made a few custom entities when the stuff from the workshop wouldn't cut it. I didn't really play on the server that much, the download time was tremendous, and it rarely went over 3 players. We recently got a fastdl, which I implemented, and it was then I realized how many addons we actually had. Even when lots of addons were omitted because of things like nudity, obscenity, etc., the amount of addons is just insane. It turned into yet another one of those servers, base, raid, deathmatch, repeat. I really don't know what to do, his group of friends really like the server, but I feel like nothing will ever happen to it. I want to make a custom RP (Meaning "Role Play," not "Raid Printers") gamemode, but he would be dissapointed if I changed the server. Then again it is his server, I just have file access. I know the DarkRP hell hole, so many of the same servers just scrambling to get to the top, only to realize they wasted their time. I don't want this to happen again, but I also don't want the hours of work that I actually did on the server to make him happy go to waste.
Questions:
Is making an "exotic" (Non-DarkRP) RP gamemode a good idea?
How do you put down an 11 year old kid without fucking over his hopes and dreams?
How do you convince somebody that naming their server after themselves isn't a good idea?
How does one make a not shitty DarkRP server?
Also I am preparing a workshop release of the good entities I made custom, just a shameless advertisement.

TL;DR: I did all the "coding" for a kids server and it became your average DarkDM server so I want to change it but don't know if I should.

Ask him what he wants out of a server; does he want a personal playground or to gain fans and community? If he wants to build real friends and community that could last, he needs to name it after a new community.
