Im curious about some of the more well know addon and content makers around this community,
but it brought a question to mind about one thing. What was your first mod you created? What was the first mod you downloaded?
Was it Shit, was it good? What gave your the "Drive" to keep on developing this content and keep on playing?
Thanks guys and gals!

First proper addon I made was probably the Wired Money Counter for DarkRP
The most recent addons were Wire Directional Radio Kit http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=285205470
and Spacebuild 2 ported-to-be-an-addon over on github.
I'm pretty sure I made a shitty super-quick shotgun in 2010, unless maps count as addons

What I mean by addons is anything that well, were added to garrysmod that was not originally there. Happy storytelling!
This is the thing that got me into coding, wanted to make something cool for my DarkRP server some years ago, copy pasted some shit I found online and learned how everything worked and I can't believe it has that many subscribers considering how shit it actually is :v:

I made a gamemode for CS:S/HL2:DM climb (kind of like bhop... but just jumping) maps that allowed you to save/reload your position.
First thing I made was a kind of fireball gun that looked like a pistol and shot flaming soda cans.
Next I tried to remake warmelons, still had no clue what I was doing though, so I didn't make much progress.
Pretty sure I did a lot of other simple shit. Earliest "good" thing I made was an OBJ loader, but it was pretty shitty compared to model loaders other people have made.
The original incarnation of my pill pack popped up on the toybox. I've refactored it two or three times over the years, and it's still a glitchy ball of fuck.
A year ago I won a gamemode contest, and that code's garbage too on account of being written in a week.
Short answer: Everything was, and still is, shit.
I made a client side "cheat" with a cute vgui menu that had animations and cute things like that.
It sucks, but it's useful when initially learning glua. What currently gives me a drive to keep on working and playing is the fact that in moments I have some self realization that what I'm doing is slowly getting easier and it feels good.
I made an awful cheat menu that used no docking and sucked a lot.

What drove me to develop stuff was that I had nothing better to do and it was fun

First thing I made was a silenced sniper rifle. Literally just the sniper rifle code with a different shooting sound. But man it sure was a hard 2 hours to figure that out.
First thing I made from scratch would be a menu that allows you to connect to other servers (of a certain community) with the click of a button.
First (Publicly published) addon I created was a Player Controller SWEP (greatly inspired by Falco's very old Player Possessor) that allows you to take control of other Players or Bots on the Server, making them mimic your input, messages, commands, etc. over their own.

I wrote something that moved a series of bits around to produce a pattern on the screen that could be read by a human as "Hello World!"

awful :v:
but hey it sparked interest in more props for building which led to me creating SProps
on the coding side of things I made a shitty rewrite of the old entity command suite addon in like 2012

Actually revamped it last year around the winter, was my first project.
I remade zork in garrysmod console and called it gork..
These are awesome guys! I enjoy reading about this stuff!
