Server can't identify its IP so it says its not responding

I pretty sure I need a config file which has my IP in it so that the server can check to see its running in-turn not saying "Server is not Responding" if that makes any sense. Hoping someone can give me script that I can just drop into cfg file.( If it's that simple )

Told by Buddy of Mine:
It may say that your server isn't responding because it can't check the IP, so it thinks it's down.
