hello im looking for lessons on how to code Glua, i have previous programming experiance and already have some experiance with lua coding, so i have no problem understand the concepts. but im still willing to pay for someone with a good amount of Glua knowledge to teach me from start. you must be good at it and not someone who just copy and pastes code ( ie, your able to actually teach the language). im only looking to learn the parts of lua that Garrys mod is requiring, and not the unnecessary parts if you have other questions please reply or add me on steam:

All you need to know about is the functions - Glua is just Lua with Gmod libraries.
Think of something to do, then search the wiki for any functions you'd need to do it.
if thats all i need to know then thats all il pay for.
meaning im just asking for someone to teach me whatever is needed, wether its 1 thing or 1000 things

http://wiki.garrysmod.com/page/Category:Lua_Tutorials
thatll be $500 then please
To be serious, what you need to know depends on what you want to make. A gamemode? A SWEP? Some other addon?
You should get started using one of those tutorials. If you need any further help, feel free to add me.
i have viewed all those tutorials before and they are either outdated or dont teach enough , i happened to be spending more time asking how to update the things it taught then actually learning. which is why im making this thread
and at this time im just intrested in creating custom things to make my server better , such as custom shop, scoreboard, menu and etc
still looking for someone
http://samuelmaddock.github.io/glua-docs/# here you have all the Gmod defined functions and stuff
firstly the link is not working, secondly can you guys STOP posting ways to see the functions etc. you are going extremly off topic im not looking for tutorials, im looking for someone to hire to teach me, just in case it wasnt obvious already.
thanks.

Well, if you want to be EXTORTED out of everything you got, I guess I can teach you. (No.)
Dude, Lua is one of the easiest languages in the world to learn, and it's libraries aren't much harder.
Here's a briefer on Lua right here. Read everything in there. I also recommend getting Notepad++ and a Lua interpreter for running test programs on. Actively learning is the best way to learn.
Once you got some foundational knowledge, read up on the Garry's Mod wiki for the most up to date information. I'd stay away from mauritis.tv for Garry's Mod knowledge unless you need a concept that needs clarifying, as it's outdated now. Also study existing code and code snippets to get a real-world understanding of the language and libraries.
i just posted that i dont want people posting me links and etc. I AM AWARE OF THE LINKS.
what dont you understand?

What we are saying is: Don't waste your money on someone trying to teach you, Because they won't know how best you learn.
Learning Lua is quite simple, It's a loverly language, And easy to get your head around. If you are really fussed about it being someone else helping you, I can give you a good push in the right direction for free, But ultimately, Only you can push yourself to the end, We can only open the doors, We can't make you walk through them.
Don't get angry at people giving you links to read up on, Because when learning a language, By yourself or otherwise, You have to grasp the basics, And understand the basic terms.
Add me on steam (UnkownAlias) if you want me to go through a few things :)
added you on steam, thanks for stating im dumb several times by the way.

Are you sure you added the right account? Here is a link to my current account: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198062956686
And don't take it personally, I just thought that denying help and getting angry when you are not receiving the help you wanted is just a bit dump.
i accepted but your offline now?

I'm tierd of hearing that shit. Stop telling people its the easiest language in the world to learn! To some people it's not.

I think what he meant in his last few posts is that its all fine and dandy having all the functions in front of him but knowing what to use and where to use it is what he needs to know?

You being stupid =/= it's hard
Compared to every language I know, this is the easiest.
I sent you a friend request. I'm tied up until the 23rd or so doing a massive job. I usually start at about $60/hour for tutoring, but I'm willing to negotiate and have gone as low as $20/hour - it really depends how motivated your are.
I also answer questions for free from time to time, and have for a lot of my friends for a long time.
Do I have to tell you each and every thing, or can we go over a few topics and let you go off on your own and try things on your own without me having to hover over your shoulder ( questions are obviously welcome throughout, but if you ask the same question over and over; I'll try to rephrase it up to 3 times, then I'll tell you that I've answered it already. ) Example: If you ask usage of how to use a module, or library and there is sufficient documentation on it, I'll have you look at that first and explain how to look up data ( very important aspect of development work, learning to read API, documentation and integrating it into your works in addition to understanding it all ). Here's the post I usually cut/paste for these requests:
This is probably better suited for the hiring mega-thread. I charge $60/hour for custom work ( base usage licensing ) when I develop code/products with an option to purchase exclusivity licensing and sometimes even resale rights down the road.
I used to teach classes in my area; not for Lua but computer and software development related for ~$300 ( This was with anywhere from 10 to 50 participants per class with several per day ).
I'm willing to teach, but you'd have to prove to me that you want to learn. This wouldn't be a college teaching situation; I'm pretty strict when I teach one on one as in if I feel you don't want to learn then it's over. I have tutored a handful or two of people in Lua, but they turned out to not be interested in coding.
With that being said, I don't have any specific "course-plan" and it's pretty open-ended driven by what the student/s wants/ to learn; so if I'm to teach you, you'd have to tell me what you want the end result to be, what do you ultimately want to achieve.
Do you want to be a better coder all around ( code analysis, optimization, debugging & QA, pattern matching to reduce code footprint ), do you want to make addons here and there ( design, implementation, debugging & QA with some touching on optimization and a few other subjects ), or anything else.
Tutoring would be laid out like so: Initial questions ( this can drive the entire session ), discussion of topic, assignment. Since it's one on one, it needs to be a discussion; I'm not just going to sit there and talk the entire time, you're expected to be a part of the conversation.
Your initial questions should be about what you're interested in learning as it could drive the entire session, questions about assignments, questions about the previous session, etc.
Topic discussion is where we'd cover the topic, writing code, giving examples, asking and answering questions, etc.
Assignments should be automatic. I'm not going to tell you what to do and when to do it. I'd expect you, if you're really interested in learning and wanting to become a developer, to come up with your own assignments which are in part inspired by the discussion to show what you've learned or want to learn. You're expected to have questions for each session about past, current and future assignments.
Feel free to pm me if you're interested and we can come up with a rate.
