Is there a way to hid the map using console commands while in game, eg; you're in sandbox mode, you can still see the sky box, but the rest of the map is hidden as if the texture's been turned off.
I have no idea why would one ever need to do this, but I don't think it is possible with console commands.
Maybe if we knew what this was for it would be easier to help you.
I believe there's something like r_drawworld, but it's obviously a cheat.

Just tested this out on a singleplayer game. It is a cheat, like vexx said, but if that's not a problem here are the results:

Basicly, I have no idea how to make a map, nor do I want to bug someone into making one, so I figured if there was a way to hide the physical map but keep the skybox, you could have what you need for a scenebuild.
An example is this, despite how hard I've looked, there is no large open map set in space that has no planets in the skybox and is dark lighted. The closest thing I've found was CS_desert_night, it had the skybox I wanted, was dark and quite open, but it had the desert map, so it didn't leave much viewing space for scenebuild.
If you ask nicely here: http://facepunch.com/forumdisplay.php?f=38 Maybe someone will make you a simple box with space skybox. You won't be able to do what you want otherwise.
If you add me on Steam I'll wip you up a quick empty skybox next time I'm on.
