• Garry's Mod Folders in "addons" not showing up in-game.

Hello and thank you for using your time to read this, I recently formatted my PC and did a complete reinstall of everything, my OS, Steam, Garry's Mod, everything (I even unsubbed from all Workshop Items to start clean). On my previous install I had no problems, everything worked 100%. So the problem is when I add my custom addons/files to the "addons" directory in GarrysMod/garrysmod they don't show up anywhere. I tried model viewer, Hammer, In-Game and they show up nowhere. Note this is not a script or anything, I just have some custom models and materials in the addon. I even added the info.txt with some basic info to see if that would do anything but it did not. I am 99% sure my file structure is correct, unless it is wrong which will come back to bite me in the ass after saying this. When placing the models and materials DIRECTLY in the Garry's Mod directory (in the models and materials folders) they are recognized and work fine. I do not wish to keep all my models and materials directly in the game folders as it will become unorganized, keeping each "type" of model and it's materials would be much more convenient in separate addon folders. In my previous install I could do this and it worked just as if it was directly in the game files. I haven't done anything with Garry's Mod in a while so was there a change/update I missed? Thanks.
Folder addons will not show up anywhere, not in Hammer, not in Model Viewer, not in the game anywhere as a list or something. You gotta get the "Extended Spawnmenu" Workshop addon in order to see folder addon list. You can still spawn them or locate the files in Browse > All section of the spawnmenu.

I swear in my old install I could use materials in Hammer which were in the addons folder. I can't remember what I did but can't you designate the addons folder to be used by Hammer aswell?
No.
