Console or escape menu refuses to update when I use my chatbox

I made a chat box a while back and I've decided to try to use it for my little sandbox server I have but after a while of using it, console or the escape menu doesn't want to open and you have to restart Garry's mod or get kicked out of the server. Does anyone know why this is happening​?

I also know this code is probably not the best way to make my chatbox with maybe how I put wrapping or icons or whatever, so if you see something that I should change and how to improve I'd really appreciate it.

It actually still doesn't let me pull up the console after some time using it, I've removed calling that function, but it still doesn't want to work.

When the player closes the chatbox I use kill focus to remove the focus and then request it again when they open it and so far I haven't gotten anything but im still not sure yet
