Im currently launching a HaloRP server, i have all the dev work done, and now its just a matter of getting into the HaloRP category.
Ive already changed the file name to "HaloRP", changed the "darkrp.txt" to "halorp.txt" and went into the init file[U]s[/U] and changed it from DarkRP to HaloRP, and it still doesnt show up under HaloRP.
To be fair, from what I've heard, if your server is classified as DarkRP then it should be easier to find on the list
The folder for the gamemode should be 'halorp', then the darkrp.txt should be 'halorp.txt', inside that line 1 should be "halorp", then line 4 should be "title" "HaloRP".
Go to gamemode/cl_init.lua and change GM.Name = "DarkRP" to GM.Name = "HaloRP"
Then go to gamemode/init.lua and do the same.
It'll take time in order for it to categorise under a different gamemode for you. I believe restarting Steam and then GMod should re-sort it for you clientside.

Although I can see your point, DarkRP is not the same as HaloRP. It's like arranging The Forest in the same category as theHunter on the Steam store.

His point relies on the fact that "HaloRP" is still DarkRP under the covers, but I've given up on that argument a long time ago since most of the top servers in the DarkRP category aren't actually running that gamemode, but just do it for the player count. So if you make one side of the argument you logically have to apply it both ways.

i just spawn in as a cement looking guy (as if there is a LUA error) but say there is no error. very confused, any suggestions?

All you need to do is change the folder name. I'm pretty sure the rest of the listed changes aren't required.
