[url=https://github.com/glua/gm_fshook]gm_fshook[/url] is a garry's mod module that is designed for clients to disallow servers from reading specific files.
It adds a hook ShouldOpenFile(path), which if you return true in will redirect the file.Open call to steam_appid.txt in the root directory of garry's mod.

It supports only Windows for now until someone adds Linux, but the ground work is there and done with.
