Any way to check if Steam Overlay is active?

After looking at the wiki, I did not find a way to check if the overlay is open or not. Is there some way to check it?

I dont believe there is, why would you need to do this?

Seeing that the steam overlay has nothing to do with gmod, then I doubt you would be able to do anything linked with gmod to see if someone is in the steam overlay.

I have a code which should not be running while the game is paused. The problem is, I managed to stop the code from running when the UI is open, which pauses the game, but Steam overlay also pauses the game and I cannot sem to find a way to check if the game is paused or not
