• How to Fix Reflections Simply
    7 replies, posted
OK, lots of people are having troubles with reflections in Source Filmmaker. They appear as over-bloomed, green, or some other way that they shouldn't look like. People have suggested typing mat_specular 0. However, that gets rid of reflections so all you have to do is: 1. Open the console with the ~ key. 2. Type in "buildcubemaps" 3. Exit SFM 4. Relaunch SFM and your reflections should work correctly. Hope that this fixes all the videos with ugly reflections.
Ensure you actually type mat_specular 0 when building cubemaps, otherwise you end up with re-reflected errors. Though I personally tried this method and it didn't seem to help at all.
This is now unneeded. They released a patch to every single person on steam and fixed the problem! :D

Use the FAQ thread for things like this next time.
FAQ should really be stickied IMO
The Source Filmmaker 0.9.5.7 release says: - Fixed invalid cubemaps causing overbloom of specular in various maps I know a perfect fix if it persists, typing in "mat_fastspecular 0" into the console (This turns off all Environment Maps without reloading textures)
