Hi! What do you think about my upcoming movie? Ah, and before saying I've copied from Zacharia scott's Bad medicine, I have his permission because of the different story. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLUQex-sGFw
Hmmm I think the lighting needs some work... Remember that 'dark' lighting doesn't mean less light, it's about the ratio of bright areas to shadow areas. Take a look at this image for example: [thumb]http://cineman.co.uk/cineman pictures/Lighting/Sc70.jpg[/thumb] It's a 'dark' image yet the highlights are still as bright as pure white, it's just in this case, the image is dominated by shadow as opposed to light. Google low-key lighting and chiaroscuro as it's the kind of look I think you're going for. Other than that I'm really intrigued by your concept!
Thanks! I'm glad to see that someone is still interested in giving intelligent tips!
Hey no problem! Ask me for my opinion any time, I love to tell people what I think! ;) Basically long story short, every shot you make should have completely white (or almost) highlights and completely black (or almost) shadows. A dark scene will simply have more shadows overall than light, but the light will still be as bright as in a sunny scene.
Mmm.. so e.g something like that? http://mfreyrie.deviantart.com/art/Hellwip1-362210920?ga_submit_new=10%253A1364552343 http://mfreyrie.deviantart.com/art/Hellwip2-362211101?ga_submit_new=10%253A1364552472
That looks tonnes better. You're doing good progress! I suggest working a bit on the animation itself, though. It looks sort of stiff.
Yes that's much better, in the 2nd shot the keylight on the scout can still be brighter. In the first image you should try adding a 2nd rim light on the objects that don't have it, like the stuff in the background and the other side of the scout. The key is that you want to be able to see the shape of the objects, even if it's dark.
