Anyone know if its possible to import the particles from l4d2 or portal 2?
I tried copying the particle files from l4d2 over but it seems to make SFM flip its shit and crash on startup. I'm wondering if I have to recompile them somehow. I know very little of how the particle systems work.

I can't help you with the recompiling, but NEVER just copy and paste stuff from other valve games into SFM, that makes it flip shit and, like you said, crash on startup.

I imagine you're safe importing other game's wav files.

Most of Portal 2's VO wavs are actually mp3s, and you have to rename and re-convert before they're usable.
But in general, yeah.

I got L4D2 particles working by copying it's particle folder and pasting it into it's own folder in SFM's particle folder. Of course you'd also have to copy some sprites and materials into SFM to get some of them to show up properly.
I copied the portal2 particles right into SFM with no problems. Portals themselves wont work however, as they're generated with alot of gameside parameters that cant be replicated (that I know of)
