In spirit of turret week I am making my personality turret available for everyone to download.

NOTE: WHEN ANIMATING YOU WILL NOTICE THE FOOT DAG IS AT THE TOP OF THE FOOT I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU MOVE THE ROTATION POINT DOWN TO THE BOTTOM OF THE FOOT

It's a turret that has eyelids and includes an SFM friendly IK rig
As a bonus for all of you faceposer inclined people there are eye gestures animations included ;)

Happy animating.
Thank you very much! This might be useful for my little button series.
Edit: I don't think I have time to make it this week since I have another one coming out soon, so the turret one might have to wait until next week.
NICE!
Awesome resource man, thanks so much for making it available!
I'd love it if you could do a rig for the TF2 turrets :v:

Maybe...
But now Zach has me making an antlion rig ;)

Im assuming you make the custom rigs in like Maya or something, but how would you import these custom rigs into sfm. I'm assuming you need to know how to use python or whatever language sfm uses?

No they are coded completely in python script I re rigged the turret in softimage partly so that it conformed to SFMs IK rules and just for added motions for motions sake (the antenna jigglebone :3)
Here's some documentation for you: https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SFM/Working_with_IK_rigging
How do you animate the eye and eyelids after you inserted the rig and the custom model?

Show hidden controls ;)
Where do I put the rig_turret.py file?

doesn't matter, It works for me and I put it in the folder "usermod"!

Didn't work for me. I can an animation set for the model but it appears invisible.
EDIT:
Now it's suddenly not invisible but has purple and black textures. How the hell do I properly install this?

Where can I find these "hidden controls"?

Hmm. I'm looking at the script right now. It isn't completely new is it? Im assuming you followed a procedure similar to This.
Gee, it sure would be nice if someone would help me figure out why this won't work properly for me.

Right click on the Animation set editor.
Right click on the Animation set editor.
Ok did that but still no access to the eye and eyelids, pretty sure I have rig_turret selected correctly!
Um, how do you make it have textures?
Its purple and black

Did you put portal 2 content in SFM? You need to do that since it calls some of the stock portal 2 vtfs.
In hindsight I probably should have included them.
I will fix that right now :p

Yay, the answer I was waiting for has come! Tell us when it's fixed, I'm eager to get started on stuff with this.
It's fixed
