Need some advice on how to recreate the lit door-way at the end of Half-life2

It's the one the gman exits from after his speech at the end after the the whole Breen business, I am essentially trying to recreate that scene (at least just the part where everything is black except the while streams flying by). I was thinking maybe I could just perhaps make a white wall and have the gman just walk through it, but it wouldn't look quite right since it wouldn't be an actual room being walked into. Also, I don't think I would be able to achieve the little bit of light on the ground that it emits if I do that. Perhaps If I had a box with a doorway that the outside is pitch black and the inside white I could just put a light source in there then just animate a black sliding door for the open/close, but I don't know how I could create that easily. Anyone have any ideas?
Maybe you could open the last map and do it there?
The map is labeled Breen, I tried loading it in Hammer but it gives me the error that 1 Solid is missing or something along those lines, after spending my weekend trying to figure out how to fix that with no success I gave up hope and wrote that off, so now I am just going with the pitch black portion of his speech and the door he exits from. Even if I did get that map to work I would still need this door at the end and be in the same position I am now. Sorry I should have gone more in detail on that.
There's a green screen somewhere in the resources thread, one of the skins for that green screen is white. Light doesn't affect it, and a few of those should work for you.

I saw that but did not quite understand it's use, I will give it a shot. Thank you very much.
Here's another idea. In a black void map, create some occluding figures that are just black planes (you can get some from here) and form them into a shape that blocks all light except for a door-like shape. Then put a volumetric light that makes it glow white and look like a door.

Worked reasonably, but could have been better if i put more than 15 minutes into it.
Thank you much, both of these ideas are great, I'm messing around with them now. I think this will work perfectly!
