It's things like this that the outside world should pay attention to in regards to the art form of video games.
Whether or not we have a bunch of stretched limbs and internet video redubs remains to be seen, however hopeful I may be.
This should be fun. I already have an entry in mind.
so do the winners get any form of prize considering all the prices being gathered
I want to enter but I really want my full name private. :\
This is awesome, definitely gonna submit

Add it in Via Third-Party Software? That's how I do it.
yeah could be fun i suppose, would get me off my ass and complete my project.
Add it in Via Third-Party Software? That's how I do it.
Ah I see.
I thought it was already in SFM and you could add it like anything else
Darn

It is made in sfm, you can find it in tf_movies/elements/sessions/logo/sfm_logo.dmx

So does this mean it's rather impossible to participate with a music video, with the music being a track from a band that's well-known? Unless I personally write the record company and ask for permission to use it in a video? Or is it enough to know that it is ok for videos containing the music from a certain record company being uploaded to YouTube?

I think all that means is they will put you in charge if music companies start yelling.
Can we still use third party software like Sony Vegas? (I tried exporting a video with the screen black at the end with the revolver sound shooting, but the video didn't have that in it when it finished.)
They used to not allow it, but I contacted them about it, they said:
I am wondering if it is a miss-direction that we cannot use Movie Editing software, especially when we need to add the SFM logo at the end, which is impossible to most people. And what if we are to create credits, it's hard to do this all without video editing software. This seems like a huge hindrance to us.
They Replied:
"You are right. We will amend the rules."

You can't import external dmxs.
So you can't just add the logo on the end.
:(

Read my above post.
Well it was less this thing and more the importing I was referring to.
i wanna know how much money we win!
i wanna know how much money we win!
i don't know how much winners win (if anything at all), but I know whoever's organizing this might win quite a bit considering you have to pay for doing anything else than simply submitting one movie.
(which is why this isn't really appealing to me. just the way this is presented screams "scam" to me for some reason)
I don't see what there is to lose as long as you enter only one video, and even then if you think he is going to steal your video and upload to his youtube or wherever, just put a watermark somewhere at the the bottom corner of the screen.

Honestly, it all seems very official. Besides, couldn't he just steal the videos anyways?
Eh. The $10 fee per add is a complete turn-off. And I'd rather have something officially announced by Valve.
oh boy, I now have a reason to work on Espionage again.
The only requirement should be that it has to be rendered within the SFM. The restrictions are dumb, and the "fee's" are laughable.
I hope people see's this BS for what it is.

Actually, it's per extra film you submit. Don't worry.

This is something that VALVe would probably do, you're not seeing why he has such strict guidelines, because he wants to show what SFM can actually do alone, without editing outside of the program.

Actually, I already know that. That's why it's a turn-off. Don't worry.
Isn't OP the one who is hosting this?
Wow, even the website logo looks like something thrown together in less than ten minutes with Photoshop. I agree with everyone else, I'd rather wait for something official from Valve.
I'm not going to enter this because it might fail. I'm waiting for the Saxxys 2012.
It kinda looks a bit dodgy, especially the VIP thing "Pay to get better chances to win", even though it's not mentioned what exactly you win, except for the virtual award itself.
Also, it doesn't say anywhere who's really hosting the festival...
I thought about participating, but then only with one video, so I don't have to pay anything.
On the other hand, it might be a really cool thing, but anything that involves money and vague information is a bit suspicious ;)
Btw, didn't it say something along the lines of "The Filmfestival is not linked to Valve" until a few days ago?
