I'm trying to finish a map I've started for use in SFM but, whenever I save, it always locks up and closes without saving anything.
I've tried deleting and validating the cache multiple times and have even gone
as far as deleting SFM and re-installing it all over again to no avail.
As far as the regular "Source MP" TF2 Hammer goes, it always gives me the message:
"The requested operation requires elevation"
and even the model viewer says:
"MountFilesystem (1841) failed:
SteamMountFilesystem(11928,1841,0x17c5fa70) failed with error 5:
No CS with App 1841 Ver 10"
It's happening to me as well and really pissing me off. Damn thing won't even let me open .vmfs... I've seen threads been made on other forums about these issues as soon as october and it really got me wondering why the fuck they haven't been fixed yet.
Starting hammer.exe in the SFM directory instead of booting it from the SDK seems to be a valid workaround for now, but you won't be able to save your map with another name because 'Save As...' will still give you an error.
For me keeping Steam closed at all times when I work with SFM solved the Hammer problem (honestly speakin', I don't have Steam on my SFM workstation, as well as internet connection - but I'm keeping everything up-to-date there). Never ran into the ModelViewer problem though.
Try resetting game configurations in SFM SDK. You can launch SFM SDK from game/bin/qsdklauncher, and SFM can be launched with the -nosteam option.
Hmm. I've tried launching it from the SFM directory and, when I try to save, it gives me the error:
"Encountered an improper argument."
