• Add facial rigging to models?

Hello Facepunch! :) I am a Counter Strike:Source editor, and i would really like to have facial rigging on CSS models. I thought maybe it was possible to just steal some files from the TF2 models and import to css? Can anybody tell me if i can possibly make the models?
I thought maybe it was possible to just steal some files from the TF2 models and import to css?
oh no. TF2 uses something called Hardware Morph. Now, you couldgive the CS:S guys facial flexes, but it wouldn't be as easy as mincing files.

Of course you can (even HWM), but that is a lot of handiwork.

You're basically SOL qeyser unless you can find someone willing to do this kind of work. Why not just use some head hacked cs:go models or something like that? CSS stuff is pretty bleh looking anyway.

I don't understand.. you need facial animation in css for your frag edit? What does this have to do with SFM?

OK so my original point still stands, you should just download some head hacked cs:go models and animate those. They would look much better than css models anyway. For example: http://www.garrysmod.org/downloads/?tag=bms

If you want facial animation for a model that doesn't have it, you'll need to make it yourself. It's a slow and tedious process that takes equal parts technical know-how and modeling finesse to get right. https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Flex_animation

Please explain it to me.
Please explain it to me.
he is making a counter-strike: source fragmovie and needs cs:s models. CS:GO models wont work because people will see they arent from cs:s

What I don't get is how SFM plays into all this. It's a frag movie, so wouldn't it just be made up of gameplay shots?

These people are nubcakes. Just download the model you're looking for, but one with face flexes/rigging. Assuming you know modeling language. Or, make your own bones. It's really not that hard. You just make a bone and make the eyebrows assigned to one bone, jaw, eyes -_- You get the point. Although, I think I have a friend that can teach you all the stuff, pm me if you want to learn blender in like 30 minutes. He's really nice too.

Also, did you really just call PamliX, OneFourth, The Kins and me nubcakes? Seriously?

(Read: you'll hang yourself with your house bra) Seriously, this guy was trying to "import tf2 face emotions into css", if he is new, then creating the flexes is probably the easiest way, as it's not even that hard. Plus, animating face bones is sfm is super cool. I like that name. Nubcake is cute name for teletubbies like us.

Decompile the model. Open in a program like blender. Create new "shape keys" aka flexes. Move the face vertices how you need them for each flex. Since i assume the faces have no inside mouth you'll have to add it yourself if you want the mouth to open.
