• [IDEA] Rust Spawn Hub / Server Join System

First off I'd love to say I don't have all that confidence in this idea but as I get feedback and stuff changes I will gain more confidence in it. A central hub; a pier, or bay where the waters open out into immense fog. You spawn in it, and you go to an NPC (idea open to change) or a boat and select a server. The player has no control of the boat. The camera then shows the player on the boat, moving into the fog. I feel this could be a fun way to solve the boring loading screen problem. I feel this would already be hard to implement, but for the extra mile the player could interact with stuff on the ship and / or encounter stuff in the sea like fake boats with a fake player(s) on it, or some islands or weird stone stuff coming out of the sea. The boat would then: (Multiple ideas) Crash, and they wake up on the island (a cinematic scene), go to one of multiple docks around beaches on the island (player just then walks off the docks and is now in the wild, but still a cinematic scene) Open to change, will edit more later.
correct me if i'm wrong but i heard that hub is already planned for official rust when servers become stable enough for non wipe mechanism. or it was just multiple islands thingie ...
This should be a plugin for owners to choose not an integrated feature. Good idea. -Toastaie
I heard it was going to be a plane/barge (similar to PUBG) that circles around the island beaches, and you can drop at any time.
Interesting, have not yet heard of this feature. However there is a new airdrop type plane being added.
as i just saw roadmap, it is just multiple islands on which you can get by boat. so probably i'm wrong.
Thanks for clarifying
New airdrops? I can already imagine kingdoms fighting over them. Great :v
