The monthly wipe for rust servers is too frequent. Rather than having any wipe at all, they should put in an update that would make the servers need to restart every two months. This would make it so that the large clans would be able to build up for an entire month, then just have the second month absolute havoc with clan wars and higher tech battles. This would also add a steady, every two month big update that changes the game (for example leveling up to components to components and blueprints and then the whole TC thing that sure is an okay idea at best, but needs desperate tweaking).
They constantly make changes without wipes, every Thursday a patch hits usually adding new features.... ffs falling trees were added without wipe. The roadmap CLEARLY states a wipeless rust is facepunch's objective....the upkeep update clearly shows they're working in that direction.
you obviously haven't played a large servers clans can have their main bases up in like 2 days our clan can get a 200k stone base up in 12 hours...
From the Rust Roadmap
Wipeless rust
The Holy Grail. A system that allows top level players to sacrifice their progress for a permanent reward and start over with this advantage. Graduating to this level should be done with groups of players periodically so it "feels" like a fresh wipe each time it happens.
This states there will be some kind of progress wipe, but it will be desirable since you get a reward from it.
For now we will need wipes, the game has to progress, and some changes can only be added with wipes, some dont need wipes.
They need to add things that needs wipes, for example the building system 3.0, to see what works and what needs some changes, if they added the building 3.0 a month later, they would balance it a month later too, this delays the workflow.
This is all just not true. You can have HUGE updates and not wipe. You also can have no wipe with 0 lag and 200FPS. They choose not to do it.
Sorry to ask Pied, but where is this info based on? Ik work in the game industry myself, and U think any gamer knows how it works. Top Manu entitys cause lagg.
Plus, if its all that simpele, and they WANT a wipeless Rust, wouldnt they have done that already? Ofcourse the game needs optimalisation but servers with endless buildings will cause laggs.
Whichever is said, Garry has repeatedly said Rust is gearing toward wipeless
When the game leaves early access the updates will not be as game changing as they are now, so less wipes might be needed. After a while everything will be balanced, decay, upkeep etc.
A wipeless Rust is ahead of us, but in the far future.
