Having the edit button in the drop menu is much less convenient and accessible than on the main post, in my opinion. It also ruins the visual symmetry across all post bodies since other users' posts have two buttons (emote and reply) and self-posts now only have one.
I like this better, it's where social media sites usually hide their edit button and it's probably where new users will go looking for it. i used it before and it didn't really register with me that it had moved until i saw this thread.

I have to be honest I thought garry hadn't gotten around to adding post editing. I think it should be on the post body.
I was sure editing was removed entirely. I didn't even notice that tiny triangle.
