Hi! I have some questions about home hosting for Gmod.
I've hosted off of a company for the past two years, but I just can't find the right one. So I've gotten a VPS. But they're a bit odd to work with, can't upgrade when you want, or anything. So I've gone to get a server box. Before anyone says, "You don't need a server box to host a server." I know that, I just want something cheap but can handle servers. So I've looked some up, I'm either going to go with the R610, or the R710. These are rack mount servers, I know. This will host more than just a Garry's Mod server.. Are these some good specs?
2U R710:
CPU: Dual X5570 @2.93 GHz
RAM: DDR3 ECC 48GB
8 x 128GB SSD
Or:
1U R610

Don't spend money on your own server hardware, it's a waste of money. Besides your internet is way too poor. And if some kid decides to dos you you're fucked.
What are you looking for in a server that existing providers can't give you?
