I think we should focus on making new, or remaking old, emotes that are somewhat consistent with the new style.
Having a mishmash of SA emotes, user made emotes, and random cropped bullshit was cool on the old forum, but everything was just a mix of whatever people liked.
I mean our emoticon set was no different than something like what SA has. emot sets usually are just a mix of whatever people like. And it was all original usermade stuff except for 2 (fukin quagmire and zoidberg lol) which yea we ripped from SA. It wasn't really that big a mishmash tbh
anyways tho no more SA rips tia
I'd like to see more of the current FP emoticon set return, but I don't wanna have FP reuse the SA emoticons again.
There's a userscript for the vB4 forums that replaces the emote menu with the ability to hotlink SA emotes
I'm not really active in the parts of facepunch where they're used a lot so my opinion doesn't mean shit, but I feel like sharing it anyway.
It's 2017, Unicode is great, and we have emotes with or without the forum supporting them. 😉
Almost all of the emotes on oldpunch look like complete shit, which is already present in some of the emotes on newpunch
. I get that it's on purpose (at least I hope it is), but it really clashes with the smooth feel that I think the new forum is going for. The new post ratings are all either direct Microsoft emoji or custom-made mimicking their design - why not use the same look for emotes? It would bring a lot more consistency to the forum.
With the old emotes lost I could be looking for the one I want for several minutes... If the list gets big you gotta make a way to filter it, various emoji keyboards do it by letting you search for the one you need, making a real time filter based on keywords and whatnot. Obviously it's not an issue right now, though.
um excuse me are you telling me the pig 🐽 snout 🐽 emoji 🐽is ugly????
💦💦🍆
What have I done
I want blobmojis.
Those are not even the good blobemojis, get the hell out of here with that shit
