• Discard a post draft
    7 replies, posted
Currently, posts are saved as they're written so that if for any reason there is a problem when posting them, they won't get lost. This is great, but, there's one problem - once you've started a post, there's no way to delete its draft. On desktops this isn't much of an issue, you can just hold backspace until the whole thing is deleted, but on phones there's some major issues with the WYSIWYG editor that make it impossible to remove some elements. This means that once I've tapped the reply button on a post, I can't ever post on that thread with my phone without that quote in there. Sure, the phone input issues should be fixed, but until they do a discard button to delete any saved draft content would at least provide a workaround.
Op got merit. On a totally unrelated note how long/contentful must a post be to no longer be considered just a bump? I wrote a poem about the discard draft: Discard draft I hope you're not at the aft Of new features yet to be implemented You're an easy fix to flaws documented Frustration and embarrassment circumnavigated A fine addition to this fine forum garr invented Discard draft To exclude you would be daft Coins 4 neatnit Fin
Please just put a Cancel button next to the Post Reply button
I assume it's because of this feature that there's no "preview post" any more. Or have I just failed to see how to do that? Used to love the preview post feature as it allowed last minute editing when I saw what a ridiculous thing I was about to post.
Shouldn't need preview post since we are full 'What you see is what you get' without having to ask for a preview. Whatever's in your postbox is what the post will look like when you submit it. A cancel/discard button is really helpful for mobile since you don't have Ctrl+A -> Delete
Still need a thingy for this. Currently the forum becomes increasingly unusable over time as thread reply box gets occupied by old ass quotes and mentions I decided not to send
When I mention someone on mobile (using chrome on android) the text box goes mental and I have no control over the little line that flashes when you type in the text after the mention, and I can't select it to delete it either https://forum.facepunch.com/f/meta/rsvu/When-mentioning-someone-on-mobile-you-can-t-edit-the-text-afterwards/1/#unseen
this thread: Hey guys! I'm back! Watcha think of neat nit's neat idea to nip the problem of inconsistant cross platform behaviour in the bud?
