Anyone have any recommendations? I wanna give it a try and see if laying out a design first helps.

Design for what? If it's forms, I usually use vs2008 and copy/paste the positions and so on.
Microshaft Visio. Either that or just use Excel (Open Office Calc if you dont have MS Office).

Okay, gonna try Visio and see how that goes. Definitely gonna give SketchFlow a try too. Thanks guys.
StarUML is quite nice, and better than Visio for UML diagrams in my opinion.
