So basically, I need a web client for chatting via Steam Friends. Do you guys know of any? If there is none, I'll have to create my own. If I could, I'd use VNC but the port is blocked so I have to create a web client for it unless I want to use a VPN (which I don't). Can I have a few pointers on how to do this? Is it even possible? My desktop computer can be running 24/7 to act as a gateway for the web client. The web client is only going to be used by me, so that's not a problem.
I want to use PHP, HTML and JavaScript. PHP can be replaced by pretty much almost serverside-language, but PHP is preferable.
It is possible and has not been done yet AFAIK. There's a opensteamworks library for C# if I recall. From there you'd have to create a webserver of sorts that handles it all.

He's probably afraid of the fact that you have to supply the website with your steam credentials - a pretty standard concern that in reality only really applies if your e-mail password is the same as your steam account's, seeing as anyone trying to gain access to your account would also need to validate with SteamGuard.
AFAIK there's currently no other option besides the closed-source pocketSteam. You can write your own implementation using the unofficial C# api, but the whole thing is a major gamble - using the library steps on a gray area with steam, and there should be no expectation that it won't break at any moment due to an undocumented internal change, which Valve would not have any obligation or will to answer for.

Steam OpenID doesn't work for this, you need to fully emulate a connected user to get access to chat; there is no official API for this purpose.
if you bothered to read that thread instead of typing out a hostile response, you'd probably know why

If you bothered to say why instead of typing out an uninformative response, I wouldn't of posted.

How else is an online steam client supposed to let you access your steam account without your password? That's like saying the websites that let you access your MSN account from online are all bad too

except that the websites that access your MSN/etc account use like OpenID or similar, so that the site doesn't get your password, but usually rather an access token or such.

It's annoying as hell when people say "don't use that", and don't provide a valid reason why not too.
