The title speaks for itself. Where is a good place to learn?
I think you should stop making silly one-line treads for each question you have. We've got a web development questions thread for just that purpose. That said, look on google for tutorials and avoid w3schools at all costs.

www.w3schools.com - on second thought, w3schools is only good for tag/attribute references. I'd say that yourhtmlsource is the best one out there. That I know about at the least... www.yourhtmlsource.com
HTMLDog seems to be the best resource for beginners.
Yes, it seems fairly easy to use and informative, just without all the text that YourHTMLSource have. I'd recommend it for beginners.
Though everyone talks shit on W3Schools, they teach you how to use HTML and CSS PROPERLY (with web standards).
Though everyone talks shit on W3Schools, they teach you how to use HTML and CSS PROPERLY (with web standards).
If you plan to go back in time, and need to prepare yourself by learning outdated standards (let's ignore the WRONG stuff they've got there for now), then yes, W3Schools is a great source.
Though everyone talks shit on W3Schools, they teach you how to use HTML and CSS PROPERLY (with web standards).
I'm not gonna say that I didn't learn anything from that site, because that wouldn't be true... I learned some tags there using the reference pages. But other than that I don't think that they're well written in any way. They don't teach you exactly how it works, nor how or why you should use it that way. It's more like they give you the tag/attribute and says: "Here, type this and it should work exactly like you want it to. (even though it wont!)" (no offense, but I just don't like the site that much.)
Believe it or not.. PHP taught me HTML/minor CSS

I have to say when I go 'what's the syntax for the border shorthand again' and then jam 'css border shorthand' into google and w3schools is the first result, I still click it.

I mean, really, W3Schools is not as bad as you make it out to be, I've seen a lot worse and outdated HTML help sites, going as far as 2003. Those shouldn't even be allowed to be published online. Anyways, I like W3Schools because it's organized and while it may not be perfect, it gives you the basic idea of how modern HTML works. And guess what. Stuff changes! Browsers change and HTML changes, too. It's hard to keep your site 100% up-to-date. So give the guys some time to react, before you start going apeshit and telling them how much they suck for trying to help you learn something useful.

W3Schools is only good for simple reference or basic understanding.
http://www.thenewboston.com/?page_id=14 That's where I learnt the basics of PHP. His videos are great and he does a load of other tutorials (including XHTML & CSS).

Most of the things this site labels as "misleading" aren't that misleading at all. Does anybody really care about the fact that W3Schools stated "<br />" is more future-proof than "<br>", even though XHTML 2.0 is discontinued? Or that they used a "bad" JavaScript example, which could have been made via CSS too? Or maybe that they stated that IE doesn't support some feature, because it really didn't at the time of writing. And who are these "professional web designers", who don't recommend WYSIWYG (I agree that those should be avoided if you want to learn properly, but if they're going to counter a W3Schools statement, they should at least provide credible evidence)? I just don't think those things are as fatal as they make them seem to be.

My link to w3fools was in response to:
Though everyone talks shit on W3Schools, they teach you how to use HTML and CSS PROPERLY (with web standards).
Because, contrary to what he said, it is not the pinnacle of web standards. Did I say anywhere that the bunch of negligible errors on W3schools makes it shit/worthless? No, I didn't. W3schools seemingly cannot be mentioned around here without someone bringing up w3fools, and the reason I did this time was because, despite it being a good resource, it is not what CrispexOps stated and there are better sources out there. I'm not as anal as w3fools are and I'm certainly not going to have an aneurysm much less give a shit if you or anyone else continue to use it, I was just refuting the statement that W3Schols teaches you how to use HTML and CSS properly; there are better places to learn as StinkyJoe pointed out.
I'm not disagreeing, W3Schools is what I'd call a "snippet" site. I learned by studying the snippets of code. I don't like the way W3Schools encourages you to do CSS within the HTML instead of a separate external style sheet, so don't get me wrong. It's a good reference guide, I can easily learn by reading reference guides, but for someone looking for in-depth tutorials, look elsewhere.

It's perfectly fine for beginners, explaining in great detail what the different functions does and such. Surely it doesn't teach you about basic standard ways of programming various things, but still that's too much to expect from a beginner.
