• How does one make money off of putting ads on their website?

If I put google ads on my website, would I get paid per click on the ads? How does that work? Why would google need to put up ads, they're already known very well. Would I need sponsors to pay me to put up their ads? How would I go about doing that? I'm rambling, but my one question is this: How do I make money off of putting ads on my website?
You need a lot of visitors to your site, like 1000+ per day to make it worthwhile. More info here: https://www.google.com/adsense/
You sign up for Adsense, they give you the code to put in your pages. The adverts arent advertising google, they are advertising other companies. I got 140,000 page impressions yesterday and only 13 clicks, about £8 for that day. So it must pay for impressions and clicks.

Sign up and they give you a small block of javascript to place in your page. That's all there is to it.
