Old Design Vs New Design? - Developers

So here's the old site layout [url]http://www.sethcraft.com[/url] and here's the new tester site [url]http://www.sethcraft.com/newsite[/url] The difference. Old site was thrown together in a matter of hours. Just needed a placeholder. Decided it looked like complete butt. The new site has been a tedious 24+ hour battle lol. Everything is as dynamic as I could make it (so far). The login will be shared between site and forum so the entire sire is powered by one login. I tried to do a design and layout that was easy on the eyes, since I'm not a fan of white when I'm tired and in a dark basement lol. I also aimed to be nice looking on all resolutions, not just specifically for my setup. I like the old site better than the new site. The new one looks really bland and the colors are off, could use with a lot of padding and those stripes don't look too good.

See, I tried to add some style to un-bland it and the gf said it looked too busy. So I dumbed it down and went with a "clean" look, similar to facebook or something of the likes. I like the top, with the login system a lot better than the old one, but everything below the menu seems too empty and dead. :(

I like the old one more, honestly. Maybe combine the two designs, that would look great.

I also like the old one much better than the new one.

As pointed out by Known Havok, if you are using php files, instead of using an iframe you should use php include: [PHP]<?php include('news.php');?>[/PHP] That's what I would do at least...

The new one, is just disturbing as hell. Those lines are way too visible. Honestly, just keep with the old design. Remove the retarded Matrix look-alike background, improve the login form, and put a bit more work into the 3 images below. That would leave you with a clean, and nice looking website, which will be easy on the eyes too.

But "Those lines are too visible", I was like, what does he mean? The lines are a center piece... Then I started thinking they were too much. I started tweaking some stuff black and liked the feel from it, so I added black to fill out some of the two-tone blue. Now it's just black and blue, skinnier lines and a more rounded feel. Any better?

I think the old one is more original, but it depends on what you want to focus on... the new one looks mor like a blog.
