Hello GhostWolf,
That's really cool that you're starting a project related to a game. It does peak my attention, and while I'd love to send you a PM, I'm asking questions that might be more useful in the public.
Will the product be commercial?
How much do you plan to pay talented developers?
What do you get out of it?
Regards,
Uncle Jookia, King of FacePunch.
No the product will not be commercial, thought let it be clear I'm not the one who would make that decision.
The pay is $1500-2000$
It's not really something that I will get much out of, It's more of a eSports community enhancement to help them out.
Regards,
Uncle Jookia, King of FacePunch.
I'd say you're a senior congressional representative, probably senator, or cabinet member at best.
Uncle Jookia, Secretary of Unicode.
I will do all the work for you but I require payment in $2 bills and solid gold.

you mean 'pique' not 'peak'.
Hey Random Person,
I am looking for talented developers to be apart of a project that requires knowledge of C++; Open GL, or Direct 3D. No, you will not be making a game. Something related to it. If any of this peaks your attention feel free to send me a PM here and I will answer any questions you may have. Thank you for your time good patrons of FacePunch.
Your good buddy,
GhostWolf
What do you mean by something related to it?
It's something that would enhance ones gaming experience. I can't really say much about it unless you wish to help with it.
I can't really say much about it unless you wish to help with it.
Uh, no one's gonna want to help you unless you say anything about it. You're gonna have to go first.
[editline]blah[/editline]
It's not like we'll steal your idea :v:
Well it's a fairly good idea to steal and the boss would rather not have that problem, hence the reason I asked for PM's instead of just posting on here about the details.
I'm not the one who would make that decision

the boss would rather
Ssshhh don't tell the boss this but... I think you should sell the idea to us and run away from him. He'd probably screw you anyway after he'd made his first million from it.
Ehh, I'm not in this for the money.
Just want to help make something that I think many fellow gamers will appreciate and use regularly.
Then release the idea into the wilderness of the internet and I'm sure someone will make it.
I won't release the idea, why does everyone ask.
Wow, this is brilliant. You're like an ideas guy - but without the idea :v:
Well it's a fairly good idea to steal
Your idea is worthless. It's how you execute it.
It's very, very unlikely that anyone will steal your idea, and if they do, it's because they were able to execute it better than you were.
-sigh- I'm done with the meaningless chatter. If you have real questions then PM me otherwise please don't spam my thread.
I'll help you. I have no experience no talent and no drive so I think I'll fit right in.
-sigh- I'm done with the meaningless chatter. If you have real questions then PM me otherwise please don't spam my thread.
Oh please, but it's entertaining :(
Anyway, real questions:
How are you planning to pay the developer $1500-$2000 with the profits from a non-commercial project?
How does your programming project already have multiple people on the team(you, "the boss" (assuming you're not just saying that), so that's at least two) but no programmers?
If you're genuinely in this for the good of the community, why don't you give the idea to the community so that people can implement it themselves (probably better)?
Lastly, can your idea be described in any way with the word "social"? If it can... well :v:

(P.S. Let us know when it's on Indiegogo so we can donate thousands of dollars for you to add multiplayer)
I never said the pay was coming from the project itself, the money is coming out our own pockets.
The project isn't entirely programming, we have programmers but they have other jobs and/or don't have the know how to do this task.
Because it isn't my idea to give and it cannot be implemented by most others unless they have a good bit of connections.
No it has nothing to do with social anything.
Ideas are a dime a dozen, whatever you've thought up, at least one other person has had the idea at some point. You've also given pay but no estimate on how long the project should take, and C++ w/ OpenGL/DirectX is still pretty broad... a little more detail would go a long way in terms of getting people more interested.
And what do you mean by "cannot be implemented by most others unless they have a good bit of connections."?
You want this for the community, but you won't tell the idea, and if it "cannot be implemented by most others unless they have a good bit of connections.", then what's stopping you from telling us, you just said we won't be able to do it, hence meaning we cant steal your idea, but your so scared of this 'boss' where is he at? you seem to be paying alot for a non profit program,
this sounds really fishy
I can understand why people are joking about this, and after reading this thread, I'd refuse your offer too. You provide zero details about your project besides the language and two entirely different graphics API's, from which you have chosen neither. That in itself is a huge design decision that I would expect you to have made, considering it could determine what platforms can support your "project"... You don't even tell us what platforms you're even planning to target.
Another fact you don't address is that you provide no guarantee of pay. How can anyone interested in helping you be assured that they will get the money they earned and not be ripped off... especially without you having proof of a programming background or any form of organization?
Come on, man, you aren't getting anywhere like this. Want people to help you? Provide the necessary information first.
I actually decided to search for people on Elance.com and found some fairly skilled matches.
To the questing, I cannot disclose information about the project without having you sign an NDA and it requires both Direct3D and OpenGl not either or. If people bothered to PM me It would be easier to sort out the serious people and the ones who are just screwing around.

My condolences.
N/A position filled
and today a poor soul was lost to the idea man
I hope there's a contract and standard conditions.
I really cant understand why there is so many people mad about it....
I really cant understand why there is so many people mad about it....
There was a bit of an issue last year with a project that blew up completely and spectacularly and cost quite a few people (not from here) some money.
Vague job descriptions are also a huge red flag when doing work for hire (apparently).
