Hello, I plan to go into programming games. Will my physics background help me in making game engines?
Yes but you need to know how to code to actually apply your knowledge.
The physics part of it maybe, but the actual engine, no.
How about Uni? [editline]10:04AM[/editline] It will help. Or if you're in school see if they have a programming club.
Well you can only get a job if you pass high school little boy!
Well you can only get a job if you pass high school little boy!
You must not have a job.
Well you can only get a job if you pass high school little boy!
That's bullshit, many successful developers left school early.
That's bullshit, many successful developers left school early.
that doesn't mean it's good to leave school early
There are some good ones for XNA. JigLibX BulletX Havok
That's bullshit, many successful developers left school early.
If I was hiring you'd have to be pretty damned good for me to overlook the fact that you dropped out of high school.
Yeah, most game development studios I've looked at want "a good degree".
And what would those be? The most i see is an associates in computer science.. If you meet the requirements for the job and can fulfill them i'm pretty damn sure they aren't going to care what you have a degree in.

You'd have to be really special, and show it. And that's if your lucky. Most of them will also expect at least college degree.
You just keep telling yourself that and tell us how that works out.
Yeah because it relates to me.......... I was just stating my opinion because i've looked at various job postings for programming jobs and most had a degree under "plusses"

If you build up an impressive enough portfolio and make that clear on your resume you can easily get game dev jobs without having a degree. Basically you have to show that you have an aptitude for the job, and I am not talking screenshots of your IRC bot coded in ruby and nothing else.
