Hi Facepunch,
For school in I.T this semester, we are focusing on Java programming.
I currently know nothing at all about this programming language, can anyone give me a heads up, recommend the best tutorial or whats the best way to start Java programming.
This would be much appreciated and who knows I may continue programming Java.
Thanks :)
For just general knowledge/ tutorials - http://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/index.html
For Game development you may like the following librarys - http://lwjgl.org/ & http://slick.cokeandcode.com/
Also Sams Teach yourself Java 2 in 21 days is worth reading, also youtube has a wide verity of tutorials :)
I'm currently learning from www.codecademy.com
it's really useful
Go on youtube and look up Bucky's tutorials, I think his youtube name is something like: thenewboston. I'm not positive on that though, I can't currently get on youtube.
Anyway, follow his tutorials. He does an amazing job teaching, better than a lot of professors, and gets straight to the point.

You just made a grave mistake there, my friend.
I don't really know why but the programming part of FP has a burning hatred for TheNewBoston.
Learning programming from thenewboston is kinda like learning web development from w3schools.

Don't even care, he's a pretty good teacher.. or atleast a good resource if you need help on something specific.

JavaScript != Java
Though I would say CodeCademy is still useful for learning the fundamentals of programming and other knowledge that extends to Java.

He is not really a teacher but a guider although I see where you are coming from.
If he was a 'teacher' he should put some things for you to do on your own so you are actually learning, not just doing what he does.
