I know as much as how to make a calculator that can add or subtract in comand prompt using notepad++, could someone spend time with me and show me basics? I would like to be a LUA coder one day, but my brother in law suggests C++ and JAVA as my beggining basics. So my skype is tanner.leteff1 my desktop's internet is down, so i would like to be texted in skype only. Thanks.
Go to Lua first. C++ is way harder.
Would LUA be similar to E2? I am good at E2
I'd agree, c++ has a lot of hard shit you have to handle with. You don't want to start with it.
Does FP have like a tutor section for LUA?
If you're specifically looking for help with Lua scripting for Garry's Mod, there's a section for that. They can probably answer more general questions, too, but Lua questions are also accepted here in Programming.
Btw, dajoh, what do you think? I suppose you disagree with me. Personally I think it's a bit much to handle pointers, inclusion guards and what not when you're just learning a language.

Just because some parts of it are harder than other languages doesn't mean it's worse language to start with, in my opinion it actually makes it a better language to start with, because when you know it you'll be able to learn most languages very easily. You'll also get a better understanding of how computers really work.

Heyy, I started with C++. I was buttrapped a couple of times but I could walk eventually.
C++ has a huge learning curve. Not for someone who easily gives up or doesn't have the patience.
C#, Java, or even Python are relatively simple and easy to read languages who take care of the niddy griddy stuff that you have to watch out for in C/C++.
If you want to simply understand Lua, just go with Lua.
