Hey folks', Just trying to get ideas from people and reviews about Network that I work on. Here you go: http://atheistcity.com/ Tell me what you think, submit ideas and what not. Thank you!
I think error messages should be highlighted in some way (perhaps a red tint) to distinguish them from the rest of the fields.

I think a better name might be in order.
I think a better name might be in order.
For example?
i dunno how i feel about this
i dunno how i feel about this
Agreed, this turned me off of the website immediately. I get a very snarky-atheist-circlejerk vibe from it (and I am an atheist).
Agreed, this turned me off of the website immediately. I get a very snarky-atheist-circlejerk vibe from it (and I am an atheist).
Needs more fedoras and Neil deGrasse Tyson quotes over pictures of space.
For example?
Something that doesn't associate it with a specific point of view. If it's supposed to be about sharing your thoughts and beliefs, the name shouldn't make it sound atheist-only.
i dunno how i feel about this
I'm not a user on this website, so the correct term should be 'auser'.
Agreed, this turned me off of the website immediately. I get a very snarky-atheist-circlejerk vibe from it (and I am an atheist).
Don't ever go to /r/atheism.
Don't ever go to /r/atheism.
That's a funny way to spell /r/circlejerk

Interestingly enough, the only criticism I can give has nothing to do with the actual programming, functionality, or visual appeal of the website. It has to do with tone. Even though you have changed the reference of unregistered users from "theists" to "visitors", you still need to break the negative (and often just) stigmas brought open atheist groups because of /r/atheism. It sounds stupid, and it's unfortunate, but you need to make your website welcoming and give people a reason to explore... which I can't seem to do without registering. That's lame. Also:
"Science is the father of knowledge, but opinion breeds ignorance." - Hippocrates
I find it a bit objectionable to use someone else's quote to support your site. I've yet to see confirmation that Hippocrates was an atheist. It is true that he separated religion from medicine which is pretty damn awesome, but the juxtaposition of this quote with your website strikes me as, "We're awesome. Anyone with a negative opinion about us nonreligious science-believers are just ignorant." Why are posts separated by male and female? That's a bit odd. Can't males have conversations and opinions with and of other females? Ultimately, you need to welcome people more and make them feel more comfortable. Your site is a brick wall with the word "atheist" on it along with a quote that doesn't fit. I wanna see what's behind it and more importantly I want a reason to see what's behind it. EDIT: Just realized this is a social network and not a forum. That's strange.

EDIT: Just realized this is a social network and not a forum. That's strange.
This, so much. The site has a feel of "We're open to any kind of discussion, as long as it fits with our world view." Things like:
Religion based arguments are welcome here to help expand knowledge of these subjects throughout the community.
are basically saying "We know we're right, but we want to share Carl Sagan quotes anyways."
You know what would be a cool atheist site? One where you can find topics such as, "How do I cope with the idea of non-existence after death?" I have a friend who has panic attacks over that. I used to have them myself. You know what helped me? Hearing from all kinds of kind-hearted atheists of different ages - the one that solidified my comfort was an old man who's wife passed away and was expecting to die soon. Stuff like that is awesome and beneficial to everyone. Atheists advocating for science and stuff is awesome too - so long as no one gets hurt in the process. I don't see why atheists have to affirm their beliefs against others. It's basically the equivalent to religious believers who go above and beyond with their religion who also need to affirm their beliefs against others. This is the tone I'm getting from your website. This is a website I am not very interested in as a result. This is what ruined /r/atheism.

We're currently working on blogging and forums system, so people can read and discuss stuff like that. I see your point and I appreciate your honest opinion. I'll try to do my best improving my network. :eng101:
