Just pick some simple projects and do some learning by doing to make it stick
The [url=https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/JavaScript]MDN[/url] is also a good resource for general JavaScript.
'JavaScript & JQuery the missing manual' is a good book for learning the fundamentals with lots of pratical exercises. Codeacademy.com is good for learning JavaScript through online coding tutorials.
