So... I'm messing with sharepoint stuff and basically, I want to have a base template document (which I have) and within it have a field in which for example the name of the user who just created the document will go. I've managed to achieve something vaguely similar using workflows etc but all this seems to take place after the document is saved to the server or after edits which isn't really what I want.
Ideally, I want it to modify the document and insert the information before being served to the user, anyone any ideas?

i'm not gonna get taste when i'm getting paid for it, you think i would learn sharepoint for anything else?
Share point is actually rather good. But never had the chance to work with it.
i'd much rather do it in something else but i can't find anything with the office integration that i'm using sharepoint for
