Hi! I've studied games for the past 20 years and have created document after document, planning in depth, to bring both old and new elements which in combination could become one of the most popular and fun game of all time. The best part? It would be **--- in difficulty to make and bring solidity in gameplay. My question is, even though this might not be the right place to ask. Is there any programmer on these forums that would like a fun challange and a shot at making money at the same time? (Note: I'm asking to share my idea with someone that want to begin a new project. I'm also ready to learn programming and I'm ready to create graphics and everything else that might be needed.) Why is this game different from other games? 1. Only the environment is created in 3D. 2. Contains the best elements in RPG-like games. 3. Random generated world, apart from spawn. 4. Players create their own servers. 5. Players are able to have full personal influense on their characters. Goal: You know that feeling when you play an awesome game and you don't even realize you're hooked because the concept is too good to be true? That's the idea. Interested? Pm me for further discussions.
Ideas guy huh.
I get that there's a lot of those. I can't explain why this is different, I get that. But I've been around for a long time and I'm only looking for people, ready to start something that they believe will actually work!

And it needs to be impressive enough for someone to say "This guy can do something I can't. I want to work with him." This means you need to show the design documents you previously made and show your capabilities graphics-wise.

It's nice to have ambitious ideas but you should show some of your work. Maybe post some of your design documents so we can see how much depth your game concept has?

I just know how to structure everything. I understand the way a program is made, so to say.
I can't program because I don't know any syntax. I just know how to structure everything. Sorry but you're an ideas guy and no one wants an ideas guy. Maybe learn how to code or how to model or something before you try again.
I'll take your advice then... Seems I have to since nobody seems to be able to think outside the box here.
I can't program because I don't know any syntax. I just know how to structure everything. I understand the way a program is made, so to say.
This is probably the most amazing thing I have ever heard.
I'll take your advice then... Seems I have to since nobody seems to be able to think outside the box here.
Don't worry it's the internet it's okay to admit you fucked up. If you ever come back to this thread, I'll put it 100% bluntly. You're an ideas guy and you have no idea what you're talking about in the context of game development. I doubt you've even lived for 20 years yet. Playing Calladoody during high school and watching Extra Credits does not make you a game designer, just like watching cooking shows doesn't make you a fucking chef, that's not how it works. No one wants to work for a guy who has nothing to offer to the team besides ideas he thought up on the shitter, at least know a skill that translates into something tangible. Programming is not something you can do overnight and takes a lot of time. Maybe if you were fucking rich and could hire people to do everything for you then you may have a chance if you're an ideas guy but I doubt it.
2. Contains the best elements in RPG-like games.
my god how did we not see it before. the secret to a good game is to put the best elements from an RPG into the game! We've spent the last 30 years putting the WORST parts, or even the okay parts in, when really, agzarr has had the secrets locked up for the last 20 years, finally coming forward with his master's thesis to enlighten us
You should at least show some work to avoid being tagged as the average ideas guy.
peter molyneux please just go home already, you're waking up the neighbours
If you want to hire people, then hire people. Anyone who has the skill isn't going to spend the time to build your idea for you. Unless you pay them.
I'm only willing to be your programmer if I get at least 20% of the profits AND a free copy when it's done.
This is the most stereotypical Idea's guy thread I've ever seen.
I'm starting to wonder if most of these people are even serious, or just trolling. I can't tell anymore.
I'm starting to wonder if most of these people are even serious, or just trolling. I can't tell anymore.
I think this one is legit(imately mistaken about the reality of game development).
It's cool to have an idea, but if you truly had the desire to make a game with those features, you'd learn fundamentals of programming. And to be quite honest, if you are jumping to make a thread to ask if people would write it shows you do not have a concept of the effort programming, modeling, and texturing requires to make a game. You have to spend time searching around and finding the best engine for the game... documentation to learn it... other necessary tools for it such as the IDE, repository, and test environments to test your game'a build.
Hi, I'm a programmer. I'd be happy to discuss this with you. I'm especially interested in some of the underlying engine considerations you have mentioned, such as only the game world being rendered in 3D, and the nature of a randomly generated world. I warn you that "The best game of all time" and "**--- in difficulty" are difficult to judge To everyone else, what's with the flame thread? o.o
It's not flaming, it's brutal honesty. You can't expect to be an Ideas Guy™ (a vague one at that) and just have people make your game for you.
1. Only the environment is created in 3D.
hahahaha oh shit
hahahaha oh shit
it's been done before! http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/182l81fgrcti3jpg/original.jpg
it's been done before! http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/182l81fgrcti3jpg/original.jpg
Someone's already made the game! That's what it comes down to based on everything you've told us. We don't know the complexities of the game specifically. I recommend for a game like this, jMonkeyEngine or Unity. Either will satisfy your game development needs. The difference? jMonkeyEngine is open source and has no limitations whatsoever. Want complex assets that Unity has to offer? Cough up $1500.

Btw, there is free version of Unity and you can make money with it legally up to 100 000$
i can help you. i have experience 1+ hours with xna and i can draw a texture on the screen
Here's an honest question: if you're a programmer with an Idea and you want help to do it; how do you go about finding people to do that?
Here's an honest question: if you're a programmer with an Idea and you want help to do it; how do you go about finding people to do that?
You don't. You're a lowly programmer. Get hired at the bottom and do what your boss tells you. Weep silently at night as you watch your dreams fade behind you in the face of an ever increasing pile of technician work. Seriously tho, I'd be interested. What's up? I have a few ideas for rendering anime characters but I don't have anyone to work out the details with myself.
