Alright, I'm ready for the boxes.
My question is why should I be using NameCheap over GoDaddy domain registrar services?
I've heard quite a few bad things with SOPA and GoDaddy and etc, but I've never actually gotten any detailed information or even bothered to consider GoDaddy as a horrible domain registrar.
Contrary to that belief, I hear GoDaddy is one of the worst possible choices due to it being popular because of mass advertisement and whatnot, not necessarily living up to its "great service."
I'm quite naive with the back end of these providers so clarification would be pretty sweet.
So, why should I transfer my domain to NameCheap?
Not namecheap
use http://en.gandi.net/ or http://name.com/
also, GoDaddy is more expensive than name.com

I'm unsure about en.gandi.net but name.com looks very appealing, though I don't want to generalize it based off of that. So far I'm a little hooked on NameCheap for the sole purpose of how almost every FacePuncher I've spoken to or seen participate in a discussion on domain registrar's favor it as well.
NameCheap costs 4.99 to transfer a domain apparently and seem to cost 2.99 a year. That's just what I see from the ads, though.
Well I don't like the name namecheap the word cheap scares me.
i use name cheap for 4 domains, their fast setup and 24/7 live chat support is always helpful... don't judge a company by its name. i usually judge it by its design. you could also check google for namecheap reviews...
I use name.com for 5 domains currently and I also use HeartInternet for another 8-10, both fast setup, and good support, although I prefer name more, and would recommend them!
Vouching for NameCheap.
I've never used anything but name.com, but I haven't had any problems with Name.com

Bandwagon bullshit for the most part. GoDaddy is a good registrar. Their service is pretty fantastic in my experience, very helpful and nice. They just don't have a very elegant site.
That all being said, I left them because of their stance on SOPA and moved to Namecheap, which is just as good. There's little difference between most of them, really.

Also, if you're ever recommended gandi by a Facepuncher and they're American, they were most likely recommended gandi by another Facepuncher.
And if you're registering .com domains and they're around the 7.99 USD mark a year, most all registrars mark that price, so don't bother looking around for better prices considering a large part of these prices is influenced by ICANN registration.

I like Namecheap, but judging by design is not always the best idea, knowing sites like ThemeForest are around making it easy to get a really nice-looking website quite cheaply.

i use gandi because i don't want shit shoved in my face on every single page

Yup.

So true, I used to use GoDaddy. during every registration they ask you if you want about 10 other products they offer (no exaggeration)
Their site is also a nightmare to navigate.
+1 for gandi
Namecheap's got GREAT customer service from my experience, awesome prices, and everything just "works".
Definitely don't go godaddy, it's almost impossible to buy only what you intended on buying.
My vouch is for namecheap.
Namecheap is fucking incredible. I have never had another registrar/hoster that was better.
Granted, I've only used 1&1 (oh god they are so bad) and GoDaddy (they weren't bad, but I prefer namecheap so much more).
I use namecheap. Not a single problem. Would recommend.

are you saying http://www.magicjack.com is shitty because their website looks like shit?

It's different when you are selling just web-products, you don't have much to rely on apart from the design and other peoples reviews.
Well, all of your replies were very helpful. My service was soon to end with GoDaddy and I decided to transfer. Took less than an hour to get everything migrated right over, it was pretty sweet. Versatility, live support and whatnot. I have to give them a big hand for anybody else who feels like transferring a domain.
Thanks a bunch!
Honestly, I've been using GoDaddy for about 6 years and never had a single problem with them. You get a shitload of benefits if you buy a lot of domains, I walked away with a free domain a year or so ago courtesy of them.
While there are cheaper ones out there, I'd say in terms of reliability I've never had an issue with GoDaddy. A lot of people simply hate it because it's mainstream and their domains are a bit expensive.

A lot of people dislike them because of their previous SOPA support.
In my opinion, their Whois privacy stuff costs way too much compared to, for example, Namecheap's
