Because Darkwater is a moron. Vote here, also talk about it here... Wait for the poll, it'll be up soon.
Too many undescriptive options Edit: :v: Never mind you got rid of them
I like the image compression algorithm idea, I bet whoever thought of that is a pretty cool guy
But but but Blame Google
But but but Blame Google
I still blame you.
I want unfriendly rating
To be honest none of these options look either particularly appealing or suited for individuals competing against each other. How would you even judge "webserver"? I would be more interested in a challenge like "make a small but useful utility" than an "everyone make the same thing but different" competition.
We compiled these as a group... But yeah, I know where you're coming from.
Aww, I really hope AI challenge won't win.. I'm not good at those
It was a very short compilation time. I managed to miss it while eating dinner and watching some TV, so I'm not sure quite how long you could have spent considering each option. There also doesn't seem to be anything creative on that list, which is a little bit depressing.

The AI challenge sounds incredibly boring, I'm up for web browser, simulation or compression algorithm.
What happned to a 3D application :(
What happned to a 3D application :(
what does this even mean? That's far too vague. Anyway, the file visualizer is the only thing that appeals to me in the slightest. Mostly because there's actually room for creativity there.
what does this even mean? That's far too vague. Anyway, the file visualizer is the only thing that appeals to me in the slightest. Mostly because there's actually room for creativity there.
Could be model viewer/editor, terrain editor, shader toybox type thing...
Blender, maya, 3ds max, its not really that vague.
Blender, maya, 3ds max, its not really that vague.
Except it is. Those are examples of 3D modelling software. And the examples he listed only proves my point:
Could be model viewer/editor, terrain editor, shader toybox type thing...
What the fuck is this thread.
What the fuck is this thread.
Voting for programming comp.
Voted New image compression algorithm Good luck to whoever can make that.
As was suggested by someone, it could be a really inefficient compression method but does it in a cool way. It's more about being inventive than efficient.
Voting for programming comp.
Why doesn't the thread title or the OP say this then? Seriously, how hard is it to name your thread properly?
Voted New image compression algorithm Good luck to whoever can make that.
It's really not all that difficult...
What the fuck is this thread.
We're too cool to describe what's going on, so just look through peoples post histories and try to figure shit out from context.
I am looking forward to the AI Challenge! Mainly because that is what I want to do in the near future. But I do have a question: What would we have to do in the challenge? Like any examples? Or is it just go make a smart AI! Smarter it is more likely for you to win!
Why doesn't the thread title or the OP say this then? Seriously, how hard is it to name your thread properly?
Blame Loli.
AI is so boring.
i picked image compression because of a) personal preference and b) it's the only one that i find suitable for a compo. the rest of the options are either too broad, too specific, or just plain boring, among other reasons.
I choose media player. I'd like to see some artistic designs and visualizations.
I can help with judging if you want (if it's some technical area, like simulations or image compression algorithm). I won't be taking part in competition itself.
