I'm building a website for my friends and I for like-minded gamers, artists, and individuals. For now, it's just going to be a blog and webcasts/podcasts/livestreams. We've had quite the audience the past few days on our livestream, so we figured that we should probably try to take this somewhere. I just wanted to hear some opinions on this layout so far. I'm sure some of you have seen this video on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loSzpvq73FY We're kind of banking on it's popularity to get this site of the ground (that video is of my friend and our group in skype, which is what inspired us to do this).
It looks pretty good, apart from the spelling mistake on 'Categories' and I'm not too sure about the top most header part of it either. (The lighter blue part)

(The lighter blue part)
Damn it... I never fail to misspell that word. As for the top most header part, are you talking about the area from the literal top of the page to the top of the header? Or the empty space above the navigation, to the right of the logo?
Personally, I like it. I have one thought, not a criticism, but an idea. You're obviously going for a slightly retro digital feel. Considered doing a 1 colour shadow for the edges of things? Will give it a bit of depth and enunciate the retro feel.

I'll try it and post my results. Thanks :D
