[b]Description:[/b] Bullet Fusion is a [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danmaku#Bullet_hell]Danmaku[/url] shooter, which means the gameplay is not based around hitting the shoot button faster to kill your enemy, but rather have precise movement and reflexes to move your space-ship around a screen filled with 1,000 bullets so you can line up your shots with your enemy. This is gonna be my first [i]actual[/i] game, and if everything goes well, I may end up putting it up for $5 bucks on my site or something. Most likely that's not gonna happen though, but whatever. I'm going more for an arcade game, so there's no real story (at least not yet)
[b]Gameplay:[/b] In this game, you must concentrate on both not getting hit by flying plasma bullets and killing your enemy; because you earn points for kill streaks, going through entire levels without dying and the such, which then you can use to upgrade your current space-ship with a new gun, faster engines, more powerful shots or even buy a new ship as a whole. You progress through the game, and depending on how you do, you can unlock extra levels, special upgrades and etc. In the final version, you also will be able to download extra levels for when you're done with the game.
[b]Progress:[/b] So far, I've still been working on the Menus and the such. Here's a few screenshots of what I have "done":

[b]Right Now:[/b] Put the level selection GUI aside for a moment; trying to make a basic image showing the design of the upgrade menu; discussing difficulty options.

Anyways, I was thinking maybe the level selection could be something like this:

Of course with more center-ish positioning and pictures of the levels inside, though. What do you guys think about it?
Lots of open space, mabe keep the width the same but make the length 4x bigger, could create an interesting effect. with a snippet of that level in action. I can whip up a mock-up if you don't understand.

I think what he means is that if those boxes are currently 200x300 (obviously not the size but I hope you understand my point) then they should be 200x1200 instead.
200 being width and 1200 being height.

Wait, my brain stopped working there for a second. I can just split them between "pages" and load the thumbnails page per page. Well, that's a very nice idea. I'll expand the pictures and post a screenshot here when I'm done.

Well it's really hard to judge whether it looks good or not without an actual background. That said, it looks pretty decent right now.

Less obvious gradients please. Make it like.. a yellow-dark gradient if you have to. Two colors just looks weird
If you want I could also design the level select screen.

Added the text on the top, updated the little help-bar at the bottom and changed the color of the gradient. Does it look any better now?

Yeah, that looks pretty good, but I'd make the bottom gradient even darker, almost as if it's not visible, but it's hard to tell without seeing it in motion to be honest. I'd say you simply make the bottom a bit darker green (Almost black) then you go to the next step
I'm not sure if Gamemaker is that much of a great engine to make a Bullet hell shooter in. Are you planning on each bullet being a separate object? :ohdear:

Not that stupid, I have some Game-Maker-Glitch-Ness experience and I know how to optimize it, don't worry! After 4 years of Game Maker you just gotta know your way around it('s suckness)
