• A crazy little game idea with an 'artistic expression'

EDIT: It has come to my attention that the following idea which was a desperate attempt of a parody and generating a minuscule but in the very least slightly relevant smile on the community of torrent users and it's niche of paranoid kids, was not at all amusing or even slightly coherent - thus I implore you to not read the following and not read the later explanation for it is a complete and utter waste of time and brain function and may have significant impact on the bad reputation of mental disorders. As a reiteration I plead and beg for you to implement a full disregard of the existence of this doomed to fail thread and allow it to cease it's capability to maintain life signs allowing it to perish of natural causes as opposed to repercussions to OP who is clearly a faggot at this point. Thank you for your co-operation. Sorta kinda unrelevant but also relevant - so I'm bi-polar and had the depression phase for like 3 years but suddenly I'm starting to get better but question is whether I'm finally getting normal or jumping to manic state again (aka having crazy ideas that don't really coexist with reality much) - so you be the judge as I post the idea that just randomly popped in my head. (get ready for a long one - no TL;DR; sorry) 1) You get a bogus, anonymous, registered domain (meaning thor/internet cafe+laundered e-money) and basic same anon bogus web-space 2) You make the shittiest exe game ever called 'Paranoid Sheldon' 3) In the game installation executable, you write in visible but small print text on the first and only window with the install button: "This game has been checked with various leading brands of anti-trojan and anti-mailware software and has been certified by top-of-the-line computer software companies - not unlike Microsoft or IBM - so be assured that no harm will come to your hardware or software. Have a nice day and enjoy the game. 4) Game about a shitty sprite guy shooting at other shitty sprite guys in suits throwing papers at you that decrease your health bar until u die - the health bar is for some reason green Also u have to shoot a shitty sprite guy in a suit 3 times for him to leave you alone and not throw some silly paper-sprite-like bullet at you - but he doesn't die then -he shakes the hand of your shitty guy sprite hand and walks away - and while doing so all the health he took from you while attacking is restored Also when you shoot him - your bullet has the sprite of a question mark on the first shot - and the second shot - but on the third and final shot that makes the shitty sprite guy in a suit do what I have mentioned above, the bullet turns into an exclamation mark Upon the shaking of the hand of two crappy sprite guys something pops out of your character - a sprite sorta kinda looking like a skull or a lil spartan head - totally random thing i don't know why it's there Repeat with more frequent shitty sprite guy spawning until hero dies Game over no credits no fireworks - close or play a game no scores no other features it would seem - you can uninstall the game also and it deletes cough everything it installed 5) put it on the bogus site you acquired with a simple layout and a very short description "Hey internets - I just started ze coding funs - have a peak of the first ever game I made, if you like - I know it's crap, but you know - learning to code is fun lols XOXO" 6) create another anonymous bogus account on some very popular public forum 7) post the following: Hey guys watch out for this new trojan i sorta stumbled upon - all I know it's in this shit gmae called 'Paranoid Sheldon' on site X. I played the game and it was crap so I uninstalled it immiedietly, but after a while I noticed some strange behaviour going on, on my pc - took me a while to figure out what it was doing but i think i finally covered it: - it somehow got into my service queue posing as an average/microsoft/intel service somehow unnoticed by the anti-vir soft I have and it did the following - it 'hooked' to the browser i used (i tried others and it worked the same way) - and if i googled the internet (as in had google+request in the url bar) for something with the word free - it would try and look for the best source to (without my permission and leaving me completely unaware) download the thing that i searched while I was querying whether something is free or not. - it wouldnt run it or anything - just download - it would ignore only word's "free", "watch" "test" "trial" "download" and "legally" but download something with the rest of the string i used) - I think it used some .. um what's it called "torrent" protocol with forced encryption. This is a wild conclusion/assumption but I think It downloaded and then seeded to ratio between 1:1 and 1:random digit, or a random couple of days usually something like a week, whichever came first and then stopped. - It would also place the file it sleazily and silently downloaded in some random folder of mine that I opened frequently but delete it a random couple of days later. - It wouldn't just delete but 'wipe' the disk like those mac's or linux's do and any sort of log information. (Really Werid behaviour) - I noticed it regularly connects to iblocklist.com for some reason but i have no idea what's that about - and this is really weird - it would put shortcuts or references to the video files or executable files it downloaded into my windows recent files/documents and even my default media player recent watch list - crazy right? - lastly all the random choices it took i mentioned like path or ratio or days till deletion - it generated and wrote it once into the registry here specifically [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE]... upon installation - before I got rid of this nasty bullshit trojan - i tried changing those values and they actually took effect and the damn malicious whatever it was behaved that way and didn't try to revert them back. - on a final note the first time i actually knew something was wrong is when I googled for some leading brand of anti-virus program and checked whether it's free - instead doing what i told you above it redirected the page to that anti-vurs soft pruchase basic license page - that is just wacky I think it doesn't do anything else i mentioned but i dunno, i just couldn't find anything. Kinda weird though, because as bizarre but specific this malicious process was it was really easy to get rid of it - all i had to do is remove it from services via msconfig - and it kinda noticed I'm onto it and cleared the registry, delayed command set deletion of it self and just closed. Didn't try to fight my attempts of exterminating it at all. Really peculiar. So beware of this weird but obviously wanting to screw you over trojan, because you know - it can get you into trouble - some persons will think you're doing illegal, amoral, unethical shit and who knows whether you and those people will finally figure out it was just some sneaky ass trojan thing u had no knowledge off. Serously that crappy game wasn't worth this terrible experience! Cheers 8) Cut all ties with all the random shit you've done 9) laugh in a sinister way staring at the wall - (I really don't know why would you do this but you know, it's just a suggestion) THE END I really have no idea what the logic is behind this idea - but when i really think hard about the manic ideas i get - they never make sense! do I need help or what!? ^_^ P.S. Sorry if this random wacky thing already popped into some other ppl's crazy head but u know - just wanted to share. (User was banned for this post ("Crap thread" - SteveUK))
tl;dr - make a game with pointless malware, claim it has no malware (which all malware-infected software does), make another account somewhere and tell people it has malware in it? Most antiviruses will catch that stuff, people with firewalls would notice the torrent connection opening up. People would notice the malware before you told them about it. And that's all assuming you could get people to play your game. It's hard enough as it is to get people to play well-polished indie games, you'd really have to advertise your game to get a decent amount of people to hear about it, and advertise it REALLY well to get a decent number of people to actually go and install it.

If the latter option then I would say - WOW i didn't know my gag idea was THAT convoluted that the point of it got lost. Are the clues of it's intent really that cryptic?
what
what
Lol - I know you have to be a real PARANOID SHELDON to "fall for this" and think it would "help/work" - but c'mon guys - a 1000 internet points to the first guy that 'gets' it.
What is with all the idea threads recently?
I think you've posted this in the Programming forum when you meant to post it in General Games Discussion. Try it there, this isn't really the right place for this thread.

[editline]6th June 2013[/editline] And yes, at this point all I'm getting out of it is a game with oddly specific gameplay details and a piece of malware that starts torrenting things that you search for and seeds it, then deletes it. Settings are stored somewhere in the registry.
I think you've posted this in the Programming forum when you meant to post it in General Games Discussion. Try it there, this isn't really the right place for this thread.
I might be indeed new to FP - not registration date-wise, but activeness-wise - however the game and it's level of 'enticement'; thus supporting a larger victim-base that is UNAWARE of what it actually does is the last thing I wanted you to focus on. Whatever point this has is rather a general programming quandary rather than a gaming one. Again the idea is pretty stupid - paranoid is key here - and that whether this ... type of thing will prove 'life-saving' to SOMEBODY is a matter of great imagination. Heh, this is sorta fun - I'm going to bed and check back in 7h or so, but if not one person poses a close enough theory by tomorrow morning (by my time) on what the actual game-part hints at in regards to the actual projects intent - I'll post the explanation and we'll all let this thread die. [SUB]P.S. A thank you to the mods in advance, for not deleting this thread before I post my explanation[/SUB] Cheers
Calling it now, in seven hours NotWorthy starts the Indiegogo campagin.
wait what are we supposed to do
this reads like viral marketing written by an actual virus like norovirus with fingers
Not programming.
Ok so, I'm not going to try and milk this like some sudo-attention-seeking-stunt so here's the quick recap... Again the idea is extremely silly, and requires an over-active imagination to think it's worth the effort or any actual contact with it, but here: (not sure how I should start but lets, with the crappy minigame methaphor) The guys with suits are lawyers shooting at you papers with treats of lawsuits for copyright material distribution. The healthbar is green because it's money you actually stand to lose is such worst of the worst case scenarios (aside of mental health). You shooting a question mark the first two times means playing dumb and saying you don't know what they're talking about - the exclamation mark is the realization of being a victim of malicious software either on your part or upon confiscation of your setup if it somehow should ever come to that (hey I dunno what country/state you're from and what sorta law-enforced companies play the lawsuit game for profit) . Upon shaking the hand the weird spartan sprite is the trojan (i thought symbol) you remove and promise to keep an eye out for in the future. Naively DLing and seeding free AAA stuff and claiming you had no idea of what you're doing is a tad less convincing than the unprovable ignorance of being a victim to a trojan. I'd assume the piece of soft would actually leave a lot of data on your pc that it was there and also some distinct protocol behavior like a bogus but innocent looking client id so it could be visible to those spying on it - but not the stuff it downloaded aka 'wiping' the data and force using encryption. Now... as for the weird behavior choices here's the intention: - obvious , but also obviously more fancy-legal-speak notice of the soft being harmless pointing that you were obviously mislead - though I guess you can omit that part entirely- browser google query monitoring with a keyword - simple interface in case you actually wanted to use some crappy silent torrent client and not just DL stuff with utorrent or w-e, cover your tracks and blame it on the trojan - "watch iron man 3 free" - yes you're positive you can watch a barely out of cinema flick legally and for free somewhere on just the first google result - yah legit, or just really really naive - if you're actually looking for something free it's a long shot that you would actually google for something obviously commercial, a freeware thing might not show up on torrent trackers - and if you're looking for a free dildo+lube, I'm not aware of either game/software/music or movie by that name - and even so it would just download it silently and delete it without a trace in a few days unless you'd do that manually (obviously there would be some sneaky way to cancel the DL or check it's progress) - 1:1 ratio but with expiration - is just for the good of the community so you don't create another leeching client - "in folder you freqent" - obviously you wouldn't want your stuff placed in appdata/some system folder/random hash - so it COULD potentially pick the folder were you actually want your downloads because you frequent that folder - "connects to iblocklist.com" - that containts a blacklist of know content torrenting monitoring company networks that you can use with soft like peerblock - so yah it would incorporate and update that for extra security - short cuts in recent window files/documents and media player recents - obviously without that feature if you had those links in there cause you watched or ran the stuff it downloaded - would be indication that you actually were aware of it's doings. - all the random choices are put into the registry once - obviously you would want to customize it - but if it had default values and the values were changed - another indication you were aware of it - with random generation nobody can say those weren't the options it generated even though they fit your needs perfectly - the strange anti virus discrepancy in behavior...well - if it doesn't allow DLing anti-mallware or anti-virus programs and even actually directs you to a basic license buy page in case of triggering the keyword - it is slightly or actualy barely possible those companies would turn a blind eye to this one 'malicious soft' because they would know what it's all about - easy uninstalation in case you don't want it, but again it would leave a lot of accessible data that it was there - but not the stuff it downloaded - i would assume the thing would get notorious in some niche circles, and even though most people would out in the open state what's it's intention - some would just say 'that game' - and some unaware victims would try the game and go wtf why are people talking about this crap - he would become unaware of the silent lil process on his system to some point - but it's basically harmless and would obviously employ some available disk space monitoring and torrent size limitation as not to automagically fill up your hdd - but that's part of the plan since it has to happen to a tiny few of innocent victims so that the rest can claim it happened like that to them too I was sure I was spoonfeeding this with the wacky sarcasm, but I guess a manic mind works in inexplicable ways. This would be a fun lil silly internets stunt - just obviously not worth the effort So there - know you know why the game is called "Paranoid Sheldon" ?
What is with all the idea threads recently?
People want to follow pac0's steps, probably.

Yeah heh, I guess I'll just go to my room and put the dunce cap on, reflecting upon my thought process a little bit. But you know.. my excuse is the fun of my emotional state and what seems like a funny idea in my chemical balance disturbed head ^_^
This looks quite interesting, I've got a bit of free time at the minute, and I could probably do with a little bit of cash. I'll have a look! [editline]7th June 2013[/editline] [sp]lol nope[/sp]

It's a breath of fresh air to hear a new perspective on a conversation where it had seemed that all avenues had already been thoroughly explored. In all seriousness though, why hasn't this thread been closed yet?

But here - I can at least polish my sense of humor and sorta "get with the times". So I think it's worth it. As a last final clarification - this thing was supposed to be the kind of "last desperate straw tactic for the paranoid" against threats of lawsuits for using torrents to DL copyright material as safe as possible. No profit intended or any kind of 'prestige' - just an anonymous for the 'good of the community' type thing. Peace out
Someone will make this and not a moment when OP creates kickstarter, greenlight etc posts. Then OP will make crazy promises that he cannot implement because OP sucks in programming. Then programmer whose OP hired will rage but OP continues making all kind of promises while the programmer sleeps. OP continues this as long as until the programmer kicks him out of the project and then programmer continues the project by itself.
Hehe, kind of a Fez deal? Yah that would suck donkey balls. (talking about the dispute between Fish and that douche not that the actual product was late cause it had every right to be) How can you anonymously end ties with a project yet gain profit and prestige from it? No way in hell I would take this on, I might handle it technically speaking if I did a lot of reading because you know - I'm a cocky shit. But no way in hell do I have the follow through :P So it's free to take - for ze good of the torrent paranoids n' all ^_^ Edit: Meh what am I doing - I was supposed to want this humiliation to die :P MODs please close this obvious justification for a recommendation of committing oneself to a facility up please :suicide:
