I don't mean to be horrible but, this is the web dev section. We're all web developers.
You got some PHP on your CSS: http://www.svjc.co.uk/priv/css/media_screen.css
I could use your skills for a few tasks. PM me on Facepunch ;)

then it should be named
media_screen.php not css...
there's nothing optimized about it.
PM me now.

Yeah if that file ends in .css it's not being run through PHP at all... lol
How long does it takes you to make a site like gamingvortex?
Btw http://magnagaming.co.uk/index.php looks exactly the same as gamingvortex. Explain?
How long does it takes you to make a site like gamingvortex?
Like 1 hour
Btw http://magnagaming.co.uk/index.php looks exactly the same as gamingvortex. Explain?
I was developing it months ago and the owner stole my idea after he saw it
Besides, can't you set Apache up to handle gziping files, I see no reason for the PHP at all.
Yes you can...
I'd like to get a good site like gamingvortex but different ofcourse.
also: what forum you use to be in there?
Besides, can't you set Apache up to handle gziping files, I see no reason for the PHP at all.
That's not as professional as unprocessed PHP, I guess.

Xenforo
That's not as professional as unprocessed PHP, I guess.
It is processed as the php handles the css
Damn kids, it is done right so stop being a smart ass and drop it
No it's not, the php is visible, i.e. it's not being processed.
[editline][/editline]
I.E. take some C&C and don't call the people in the WEBDEV FORUM ~they don't know what they're talking about~
Yeah if that file ends in .css it's not being run through PHP at all... lol
^
You could potentially output a stylesheet in a php file, but that doesn't work vice versa in a css file.
You could add a rule to run all .css files through PHP
You could. Or he could rename the file type to .php.
I don't think you are making a good impression of your 'skills' by saying that PHP in that CSS is right, because it isn't even going through the parser.

Would you like some correct grammar with that hypocrisy?
I think it should be "Damn kids, it is done right so stop being smart asses and drop it please."
You could add a rule to run all .css files through PHP
yeah but in that case it would go HTML ([sp]and just write it like text[/sp]) all over the CSS code as far as I know

Sorry, but no. If it was being run through PHP that wouldn't be visible in the file at all. This is going to sound more harsh than I mean it to, but you shouldn't be calling yourself a professional if you don't know that something isn't working right by looking at that css file...
yeah but in that case it would go HTML ([sp]and just write it like text[/sp]) all over the CSS code as far as I know
You can have a rule override the mime type

and this
Truth be told I don't think you properly understand what PHP and CSS are, nor where they can be used properly. PHP is a very versatile language and can accomplish many tasks, but it is perhaps one of the only languages where it can none of them very well. It is not a one-trick pony and can be used to create different webapps easily and quickly, but the thing is since there are so many ways to go about carrying that task out there simply is no "right" way to do it. As a result sloppy code, security issues and some very 'creative' writing means that PHP is abused more than it is taken advantage of in this day and age.
So by you claiming your PHP is 'done right' - you've already shown your hand to us I'm afraid.
Also anyone who charges less than $30 an hour is either very very desperate or very very rubbish imho. Both being directly related to one another.
I don't now much about web development but if you used xenforo to make the website it is really easy to do. The others look nice though

That's what I was thinking. "GamingVortex" is basically a Xenforo forum, am I right? But on his side doesn't Xenforo cost a little money so there's a small amount of investment involved.

Like vBulletin, everyone pirates it.
Why would anyone want to pirate a hunk of shit like vBulletin? IPB I could understand but my god vB5 is terrible.

Because it'd be even dumber to pay for it?
I like your website design http://www.aaronhatton.co.uk/ but there could be some improvements. I'm not a CSS guru in any way, but I think it would look a bit better if you could center the text that displays your merits. But as I said, I'm not a CSS Guru, I more of a fan of back-end or server-side scripting.
That being said, just remove the PHP code from your CSS since it's not being executed and the website seem to work fine without it. It would also be useless to make your web-server run the .css files through PHP as a simple include() or require() towards the required pages would be sufficent.
I'm also sceptical to why the Steam Profile bar is displaying in the center of his text here: http://www.gamingvortex.co.uk/index.php?threads/server-down.30/ Should it be like that? :pwn:
